Tony Webster and his clique first met Adrian Finn at school. Sex-hungry and book-hungry, they would navigate the girl-less sixth form together, trading in affectations, in-jokes, rumour, and wit. Maybe Adrian was more serious than the others, certainly more intelligent, but they all swore to stay friends for life. Now Tony is retired. He’s had a career and a single marriage, a calm divorce. He’s certainly never tried to hurt anybody. Memory, though, is imperfect. It can always throw up surprises, as a lawyer’s letter is about to prove.

This book deserved the Booker Man Award it received. Very thought provoking with an interesting twist at the end.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Good story, character development, even though it is long. I can hardly wait for book 2.

Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to publish a story exposing an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society, business, and government. On the eve of publication, the two reporters responsible for the story are brutally murdered.

    Overall

I liked the character Lizbeth Salandar and the storyline. AS the story played out, I found myself emotional envolved with the characters. I enjoyed both of Stieg's books, but have to admit that I was disappointed with the ending of Fire because I truly wanted to know the outcome with Salandar. Surely Stieg could have devoted one more chatper to tie up all the loose ends. This would have been a 5 star except Stieg left me with too many unanswered questions at the end of Fire. I hope he has a third installment that will answer all my questions. The books are good, well written and the characters are well defined. Good Read.
