"Couldn't stomache it"
It was an okay read. I normally really enjoy his books. The harsh sexual acts were too graphic and horrifying for ME to find entertaining. However, this is not why the book "lost stars" from me. The sub plot of Alex Cross's personal life was weak and unneccesary and therefor annoying taking away from the story. But that is what the fast forward button is for.
I've never really given narration much thought before this book. I can only imagine that is very difficult. I'm not saying I could do better, but the Russian accent was awful and made it a difficult listen.
"Intriguing from start to finish"
Eoin Colfer does it again. His attention to detail paints the fairy world beautifully. You are able to visualize and understand everything he writes. Fairies have always seemed girlish to me. But not now. Eoin Colfer has given me a whole new outlook on the little people. This book is packed with adventure and has a heartwarming touch. Get this book, and enjoy! For children and adults!
If you have not read Artemis Fowl, I recommend starting there first. The first book provides much to the plot of this book. You are sure to enjoy them both.
"Howe Wonderful"
The stories are great! A family finds a bunny at the movies - Dracula. The family dog tells you the story of how one rabbit came to change their lives forever. The banter between the cat and dog will crack you up. The entire family will love these books. Who knew a vampire book could be so fun loving.
I recommend this listen! Enjoy.
"I Love Fairy Technology!!"
I absolutely love this series, and this book is no exception. If you have enjoyed the previous 3 books in the collection, this one is a guarantee! Eoin Colfer has a magical ability to describe the human and fairy technology and make me feel as if I understand and could use it myself! I wish he could have been my science teacher!
Not read any of the Artemis Fowl collection yet? I recommend you do. The series will entertain children and adults. But as great as this book is, you will want to wait and read them in order. This book, more than any of the others, will require previous Artemis Fowl reading. I would tell you more about the book itself, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. And if you have a child that hasn't found reading enjoyable yet, your child hasn't read (or heard) Artemis Fowl.
Stop thinking about it! This is a great book. You WILL enjoy it.
"And I mean Everything!"
Let's just say it starts with the smallest atom and works its way up. I was looking for fun and interesting tid bits about our past (known past) our history. This deals a lot with scientific theory. I found somethings interesting. I was however bored through most of it, and felt like I was back in my freshman highschool science class. The book just wasn't my cup of tea.
"You Have To Love Sci-Fi"
Although I am not the biggest Sci-Fi fan, I did enjoy Eoin Colfer's "Artemis Fowl" series immensely and thought that I would give this book a chance. I liked it. The story was really out there! I definately hope that this is not our future. But if it is, I hope the Supernaturalist are around to help us. I would recommend the book to children over the age of 12. There are some very adult issues (death, battle, and legal mistreatment of orphans). There is a very exciting twist near the end - I won't give it away - but it was a big, unexpected twist. I would recommend to others (over 12 of course). I would also highly recomment Eoin Colfer's "Artemis Fowl" series. Delightful series for all ages. I dare say better than Harry Potter!
"I hope this isn't the end!"
I have loved the entire collection. If you liked the first two, this one is a guarantee. I won't ruin it for you, but this ending is great! Don't think about it, get it! And if you haven't read the first two, stop, go back and start with Artemis Fowl. You just can't start here, and you wouldn't want to. The first two are necessary reads to get the most out of this one, and true delight to read to boot.
"It sounded funny! I was wrong."
I was looking for tips such as "what to do if you spill wine on yourself during a date" or "quick tips for fresh breath," maybe even "what to do if you can't rise to the occasion." That isn't what the book was about at all. The book spent chapters telling you how to escape through the kitchen or bathroom windows of restaurants when you don't like your date. How to ask the restaurant if you and your date can wash dishes to pay for your tab. How to ditch dates you don't like via disguise and lies. I found myself wanting to yell "grow up" or "duh" through the entire book (the 3/4 I listened to rather). I don't suggest it. But that's just my opinion.
"The Stupidest Book!!"
Definately not for the family. Sexually graphic. Lots of profanity. Not really the Christmas book I was looking for.
"A MUST!! I bought all 3 & listened twice!"
If you liked Harry Potter you will love this book. If you didn't like Harry Potter, you will still love this book. Funny, creative, the entire story will keep you wanting more. Be sure to listen to this story while you have a lot of time. You wont be able to turn it off! I don't want to tell you about the story. I don't want to ruin a great thing. Enjoy!
"Always A Great Simple Listen"
It's such an easy listen. Perfect length for a trip. I can never wait for the next letter!
