Orphaned Kit Tyler knows, as she gazes for the first time at the cold, bleak shores of Connecticut Colony, that her new home will never be like the shimmering Caribbean islands she left behind. In her relatives' stern Puritan community, she feels like a tropical bird that has flown to the wrong part of the world, a bird that is now caged and lonely.

Where does The Witch of Blackbird Pond rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's one of the best ones I have listened to thus far.

What did you like best about this story?

    I love the subject matter.

Which character – as performed by Mary Beth Hurt – was your favorite?

I liked her reading of the characters Mercy and Judith.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Nat comes back with Prudence to save Kitt from punishment is a great moment. He risked his life to do this because he'd already been punished in this town once before.

    Any additional comments?

I read this book many years ago as a teenager, and it has always been one of my favorite works. I think this books is what first interested me in the Salem witchcraft trials. However, now that I am older, I do realize that the plot is a little over-simplified. It's still a great read for its intended audience.

A grand treasure for fans of the grande dame of mystery, The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories brings together nine rare and brilliant Christie tales of murder and detection that span nearly half a century of her storytelling genius. In "The Mystery of the Spanish Chest," Hercule Poirot unravels the psychological conundrums that motivate a killer.... In "The Actress," a great star's shady past becomes the plaything of a blackmailer.... In "The Harlequin Tea Set," Mr. Harley Quin helps a man save his loved ones from the greedy hand of murder.

Would you listen to The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories again? Why?

Yes. I have enjoyed the mysterious character of Harley Quinn, and I enjoy Mr. Saitherwaite's fussiness.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The work is a set of short stories. You are able to stop after each story, so no.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

    Mr. Saitherwaite

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I listened to it while I was out walking, so I was motivated to walk each day until I finished. It gave me something to look forward to.

  • Dracula [Audible Edition]

The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Yes, because it is the start of all great vampire tales.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dracula [Audible Edition]?

    Not sure

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed the Van Helsing narration best. This was an ensemble performance, and all of them were great.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. A pistol lay on the floor near his out flung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A clear case of murder and suicide. But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments? A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. Now - in the words of the rhyme - can Poirot pick up the sticks and lay them straight?

What about Hugh Fraser’s performance did you like?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I was okay with drawing it over several sittings. It got a little slow in places, and the ending seemed a little improbable.

Luke Fitzwilliam does not believe Miss Pinkerton's wild allegation that a multiple murderer is at work in the quiet English village of Wychwood and that her local doctor is next in line. But within hours, Miss Pinkerton has been killed in a hit-and-run car accident. Mere coincidence? Luke is inclined to think so - until he reads in the Times of the unexpected demise of Wychwood's Dr. Humbleby.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because the performance was great, and this was one of Christie's better works. The plot was tighter, and I thought I knew "whodunit" long before the end, but I was wrong...which was fun!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Murder Is Easy?

The end when you find out who the murderer is!

What about Hugh Fraser’s performance did you like?

    Everything! He's a brilliant performer.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I really enjoyed this work. Christie's plots seemed to get looser as she continued to write, but this one was very tightly written and had a good twist at the end.

What made the experience of listening to The Hobbit the most enjoyable?

After having watched the film, I finally broke down and listened to The Hobbit. I have read the LOTR trilogy, and I have tried to read The Hobbit before, but I just couldn't get into it. Listening to it made the experience enjoyable. I finally found myself being engrossed by the tale.

What other book might you compare The Hobbit to and why?

    LOTR, of course

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked that the thunder battle and the stone giants turned out to be a part of the book!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    It's already a film!

    Any additional comments?

At first, I found the narrator's Thorin and Gandalf voices to be very annoying. I almost stopped listening because I disliked the way he did these two characters' voices. However, after giving it enough time, I became accustomed to it.

From the perilous ocean crossing to the shared bounty of the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrim settlement of New England has become enshrined as our most sacred national myth. Yet, as best-selling author Nathaniel Philbrick reveals in his spellbinding new book, the true story of the Pilgrims is much more than the well-known tale of piety and sacrifice; it is a 55-year epic that is at once tragic, heroic, exhilarating, and profound.

What did you love best about Mayflower?

I have read this book before, and I have listened to the abridged version as well, but I love all the details, so I wanted to hear it as a whole. Nathaniel Philbrick does a great job of telling the tale of the Pilgrims!

What other book might you compare Mayflower to and why?

I'm not sure that there's a book to which I'd compare it.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

The book is a history work, so Guidall does not do "voices" for characters because he is not reading fiction.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Mayflower--the story of the Pilgrims survival.

I enjoyed this book, and think most Christie fans would as well.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No. It's a collection of short stories featuring Harley Quinn & Mr. Satterthwaite. Each story is interesting, but it's easy to put the work aside after each chapter/story.

I liked a few of the stories more than the others, but nothing truly stood out.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I don't think that everyone would be interested in Agatha Christie. Her early works are her strongest, but she goes downhill in her later years.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The storyline wasn't too bad, but by the end, it was rather predictable.

Have you listened to any of Emilia Fox’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She did a good job with the reading. I would listen to something else by her.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Perhaps...
