In the top five. Not romantized..When I initially began to listen I felt as if I was listening to a modern Dickens Tale. Interestingly, Dickens is later introduced into the story as a minor character. Initially I was concerned that the book was going to be a bit too graphic for my taste but these were brutal times!
Well researched looking forward to the next book in the trilogy.
He brought the book to life!!!I felt the narrator performance was exquisite. He gave the characters a true voice and personality.
Actually, too long to enjoy in one sitting.I listen to audio books a lot when I drive and a true test is when I sit in the garage and listen because the story is so engaging. I did this with this book!
I found it totally unbelievable. It was a bad romance novel turned porn...
It just wasn't believable...Something about this young supposed innocent who allowed this guy to prey on her is disturbing to me and that fact that it might be viewed as acceptable treatment by a young woman listening to it is upsetting to me.
No, I actually knew by the first hour of listening that I wasn't thrilled but I kept expecting it to become something more redeeming. So I listened to the whole thing but I can guarantee you I will not bother with the other two books in the series.
I purchased it because of all the media hype. I will think twice before I do that again!
I felt the story was too easily figured out! It did intrigue me in the beginning but it soon lost its spark. A good piece of fiction is something to get lost in but I kept looking for inonsistencies in the telling of the story...I was distracted.
Probably not, because of the feeling of being distracted because of looking for inconsistencies in the story. I felt characters from the present knew too much about the past without solid information.
No, but probably will be made into some type of made for TV dribble.
