At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

More story, less listings of 70s & 80s geek culture references.

Would you ever listen to anything by Ernest Cline again?

    Probably not.

What aspect of Wil Wheaton’s performance would you have changed?

He was ok, a little snarky, but he usually is, and the book called for it.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

mostly frustration at the endless listings of "cool" 70s & 80s video game, geek & pop culture references.
