I am warmed and heartbroken, at the same time, by this story. The true facts are horrifying, and the ending is beautiful. I never learned about the holocaust in school. I first heard of it watching a documentary, and from there studied it on my own. Now, as a homeschool teacher, I want my children to learn and know this tragic part of history. I do not want these people to be forgotten. This particular story is so well written. It is very different, in my opinion, from Anne Frank's story. I really enjoyed the new perspective. I also appreciate how well written this one is for young people. The words tell the story without being too graphic, but still getting the truth across. My children will be reading this, as well as the Anne Frank story. I know it will add so much to their understanding of the holocaust. This book was captivating! The narrators voice was nice, and she did wonderfully with the German accent when it was needed. Great listen!

This audio book is a wonderful bonus to an awesome curriculum. It allows the student to determine how long each reading assignment is, prevents the student from having to stop and look up the pronunciation of difficult words/names, and provides another form of learning to the student. Now that the audio is available here at audible.com, instead of just on disc, it just makes it that much easier to access and use. The narrator's voice does not drag or cause boredom to set in. She does an excellent job reading the teaxt.

The science text is fantastic and helps transition students from elementary studies to higher level science. The experiments are all easy, but they accomplish what they are intended to do. (I highly recommend purchasing the kit for the experiments.) This textbook is great for middle school age kids, but also for adults who did not have the privilege of studying science from a biblical worldview as a child. I learned a lot, and enjoyed teaching this subject. There is a lot of Bible and history in this science text, and it is fascinating. There are 16 modules covered and they are:

I would give this series 10 stars if I could.

This was a quick listen, but well worth the inexpensive price. The story is very moving. As you begin to listen, you quickly start to like Sadako and want to see her succeed and accomplish all the things she has set before her. It's heart breaking to follow her through her trials. I found this story to be a wonderful addition to the textbook study of this time period and the atom bomb. It is a story you will never forget as you are allowed into the private world of the individuals who suffered long after the atom bomb was dropped. The narrator does a fantastic job of reading this inspiring story.

This book was very true to real life, very real. I loved how it showed the young girl's feelings and emotions completely. The story itself was interesting, and it gave the reader an opportunity to experience life during the 1930's for a specific group of people in very hard times. I loved getting to learn more about the Depression era from the point of view of an immigrant. The fact that they came from wealth and were taken to poverty just adds so much more to the story line. It happened to many people. You can really feel the ups and downs of the characters as they go through their trials, because the author's writing abilities are fantastic. I think this is a great listen for young people studying this time period, or for adults just wanting a good book to listen to. I enjoyed the narrator, she did an excellent job.

What wonderful historical fiction! I know this book was intended for young people, but as my 12 year old read this for a history supplement, I quickly realized it is for all ages. I enjoyed it, and my son, who is not a huge fan of reading, also liked it. The story reveals so much about what life was like, from a slave's point of view, in colonial America without being overly graphic. The story line was interesting and educational. I am convinced my son has a better understanding of what life was like for a slave, and what life was like during this time period as a whole because of this book. I recommend it to people of all ages. The narrator adds so much to the story and truly brings the characters to life.

This is not my usual type of reading material. I was not sure about it at first. Half way through book 1 I thought I would not read anymore; however, I ended up reading 1, 2, & 3. In my opinion, each book is better than the previous one. I am now looking forward to the much anticipated book 4!

I absolutely love good historical fiction for young people. This story is accurate and entertaining. I enjoyed it very much, but even more so, the kids were pulled in and mesmerized. The characters are lively and interesting. The historical details are present, and presented in a fun story without anything boring. A young person will learn so much more about Jamestown, and retain what they have learned, by hearing this instead of only a dry textbook with dates and facts. History really comes to life in this book. I recommend it for anyone studying this time period to really enhance required textbook reading. The narrator does an outstanding job. It sounds as if there are several different voices throughout. Superb!
