This was a great book for anyone who enjoys college basketball, but never understood the AAU system and how it is harming the college game. I would give the book itself a 5+ rating. The only bad thing was the narrator. This book really shouldn't come from a female voice, since all the voices in it are male. In addition the narrator was just not good. The book was so good, however, that I was eventually able to get past that and enjoy it.
Pat Conroy is simply put one of the best authors alive today. It's a shame that he doesn't put out more books. I had seen the movie before listening to this. I was not a big fan of the movie. I am a big fan of the book. Conroy creates characters who are so real you feel like you know them. Muller completes the job of bringing them to life. A great book by one of my favorite authors.
I was really into the OJ trial and even I had a hard time getting through this one. Not a lot that was new. This is only for the hard core "fans" of the trial.
This was a little more predictable than most Grisham books. However, I do love listening to the way Grisham writes and Boutsikaris is a top notch reader. It did hold my interest until the very end.
I like listening to Christmas stuff at Christmas. In that regard, it satisfied a need last December. The best ones I listen to again another Christmas. This one won't make that list.
I'm a golf nut. So to say this is my favorite golf audio is saying a lot. I love the history of golf, the details from a time gone by and I enjoy hearing about Jones. Jones was more dominant in his era than Tiger was in his prime. On top of that Jones was a legendary golfer in his spare time. He was a lawyer by trade. It's an amazing story that is well told.
This is a very good book for any golf fan. A great book for anyone interested in golf history. And a total must have for any Hogan fan.
I've listened to this several years at Christmas. It is just so funny, realistic and nostalgic all at the same time. I've gotten way more than my credit's worth on this one!
We listened to this on the way back from Washington, DC. It was great to get details on the places we had just seen. Plus it was fascinating to learn details about the assignation that I didn't learn in school!
I'm not a big fan of Glenn Beck. If I had known of his politics before buying it, I probably wouldn't have. That would have been my loss. It's a very good book and will put you in a Christmas mood by the end.
This ranks among my top 3 of all-time. And that's saying a lot since I already knew the story from the miniseries. Great story and a great reader!
There are too many to name. Such a great book that you didn't want it to end.
He has the perfect voice for a Western.
Gus. He is probably one of the most memorable characters in all of fiction.
