My daughter couldn't wait to listen to this as she just finished reading the book, but she and I both found the narrator's rendition of the various characters annoying. He didn't seem to match voices with personalities and made all the children sound a bit dumb. If it wasn't for the poor narration, the book would have been a delightful listen though I believe the first book in this series is better. Then again, I read the first book and did not listen to it. This may be better served read and not listened to.
I was very disappointed in the novel since it was 16 hours of a teen-age girl whining about her lost love. It was excruciating to listen to and the narrator's voice started to grate on my nerves. It didn't help when her inflections did not match what she was saying throughout the story.
I am also not happy with the character development of the main character. For the life of me, I cannot see why she IS the main character since she seems to have a co-dependent personality filled with gripes and depression. What a trial it was to listen to her blather on about not having the will to go on...
I am hoping the last in the trilogy has more of the first novel's feel. I don't think I can handle another story about a teen who carps about and dreads being old at age 30!
