I have read all the O'Brien books and they are pretty good. I felt this one fell short of the punch. It was okay. I am not too disappointed I got it. Sometimes I listen to the books more than once.
This was a short book yet it seemed like it dragged a bit. Maybe because it didn't hold my interest and anticipation.
This one I am not sure I will listen to several times. All in all I will be happy to continue with the O'brien family.
I enjoyed this book. Oh it was not up to J.D. Robb standards, but I still enjoyed the book.
I am not sure I like the new doctor that is trying to date Morris. I guess it's good there are new characters involved. But it's such a tight knit group you hate to see anyone bother the balance.
I was glad most of the regulars were there. I thoroughly enjoyed that. I enjoy the banter between Sommerset and Eve. I know a lot of what takes place is redundant but it is what make the book an In Death Series book. If these things are not in the book the book suffers in my opinion. The interaction between Roarke and Eve is paramount. The private moments between them is awesome and special. I look forward to them. Even if they are arguing or angry with each other it makes the book worthwhile. This book was close to getting there but not quite there. It was still enjoyable.
The book had a lot of twist and turns to where you were not sure who the killer was. It made it a bit fun. It was nice to see the boy (teko) back and helping Eve shop.
I still want to know who the candy thief is, when will Eve make Captain, and of course when will Eve and Roarke have a family. Eve it Eve she can make it all work. I agree with some other writers it would be nice to have a book on Eve and Feeny when they were partners. There are so many ways to go with this series.
As always Susan Erickson was spot on. I would not listen to the book if she wasn't the narrator. Even on an off day she is better than most.
This was a perfect ending to a series. I enjoyed the entire series. This was not my favorite of the series, but a perfect ending. I hate to see the series end. It is a great family. I enjoyed each and every story and to end with the parents telling their story of how they met and married, which started it all, is very fitting.
This was not just a sappy story, it had drama, turmoil and love. I could read about the strong family every week. It would be nice if Ms.Bryant would write another one. It would be nice to know about the things she talked about in this book come to fruition: like Zaria having twins again, and the other brother and his wife having a child. Strong Heat tells the mother and father's story but also gave us updates on the entire family.
This was a real sappy story, but I found it refreshing. It was a bit too sweet, but I found the drama and romance to be fairly balanced. It was really too good to be true, but sometimes, you just want a feel good book and/or one that is not too dramatic.
I enjoyed the book. This is my first book by this author and I will try others by him. I was not bored. I got pass the stuff that probably was unreal, however, some of it is truly how life really is. It was good to see an underdog, Dana, to find herself, and get what she wanted after all she had been through. She had a low-life first husband and clearly deserved more.
If you are looking for a serious book with everything in the right place, give this a pass. If you are looking to enjoy a fun, romantic book mixed with life and a bit of drama, then this will fit the bill.
The narrator did an okay job. I have heard better, and worse. she was adequate - actually when I started listening she is the one that pulled me in.
I pre-order the Death series books because I am usually so excited I can't wait and I guess somewhere in my head ordering ahead of time I think the book will get here sooner. I am a bit disappointed again. This book was not as graphic as the last book, but it does seem a bit off. I know people complained about the formula, well the formula works for me. I love the interaction between Eve, Roarke, and the other characters. When they are not included in the book it lack some of the luster. If the love scenes between Eve and Roarke are not hot and heavy to me the book suffers. I mean I count the stuff off. I like the fact that this book was a bit calmer, but it was flat. If Nora only puts out two in death books a year, then she should be able to make them good. We wait 6mos each for a installment we expect it to be GOOD. I enjoyed the book some, it is better than most other books by others, but it STILL is NOT up to J.D. Robb In death series standards. Because the older books have been so good, the not so good ones have held up the flops. It is time Nora put this series back to what made it so great to start with.
Lately, each book has me upset about something. I know it is hard to please everyone, but it seems we were mostly pleased with the older books. Sometimes when you try to change stuff you mess up. If it is not broke, don't fix it. Please please give us the answers to some of our questions, and bring back the luster, care, knick butt Lt we are all used to.
The relationship between Eve and Roarke is paramount, her bantering witth sommerset, etc. Some stuff you simply can't change, just find ways to get it into the story. I don't care if it makes sense or is not realistic, it's a fiction book. I know some of us crazy folk really love these characters like they are real. You did that for us, but if you are going to keep the books up -you have to find away to make them as exciting as they used to be. Keep us wanting more.
This is beginning to be like a series on T.V when the series lose the rating power and eventually gets cancelled. I want this series to stay fresh until you decide to end the series. I would hate it to continue to go in the direction is has been with the last few books. I though I would never say I would give up on the series. This is the first time I am not looking forward to the next book. I have read all of the books many times. After this one, you have to go back to what made us fall in love with the series in the first place. Right now, if I really want all the things that made me fall in love with the series, I have to search out an older book and reread and listen to it again. The only thing I can say remains the same is Susan she was spot on again.
I enjoyed this book. I am a new fan of Rachel Gibson and have several of her books.
This book was pretty good, but I really like it all wrapped up in a tidy bow in the end. Maybe for me I just want too much. Delaney walks away again after Nick hurts her one more time and this time it may be for good. Yes, he is a jerk but she can't help the fact that she loves him.
It would have been nice to see what happened like what the mothers felt and did after they realized that Nick and Delaney really were getting married and loved each other to distraction.
I also felt tormented a little at the back and forth but that also kept my attention and interest in the book. The characters were developed and I think the narrator did a good job.
I had this book a while and finally listened to it this week and came away satisfied. You will not be disappointment and this book is worth the credit.
I am an avid fan of the In Death Series. I can't want for each installment. I was a bit disappointed with this one. I was so hoping for something outstanding. when I heard Eve was finally getting some of what she deserves I had anxiety. I was so outdone she turns the Capt job down. Why bring it up if it was not going to amount to anything. It was a bit let down for me.
I usually really enjoy all the books. I enjoyed this one too, but I think I was expecting to see some things we have been waiting for like, the candy thief, Eve finally getting her promotion. You are the author, you can have her be Captain and do her job as she likes. Why toy with us. After waiting 6 months for this book to come out and it comes up short for me.
I still enjoyed the story and I love the formula but Nora, you have to engage the other characters more like the older books. I love that Nixie showed up and Elizabeth and Richard, but it was not enough. I think you focused too much on the killer. All the stuff about him you could have been giving us more story on the regulars and even Eve and Roarke.
All in all this was a good book but certainly not one of her best. It is one I will listen to more than once, but still I felt it was lacking some of the zest the books normally have.
I hope some of the issues are revealed/ resolved soon. I don't think I will get tired of the books, but I am getting tired of waiting for some answers.
I read this book some time ago and was excited it finally made audio. The book version is better. Although Pete Ohms is getting better he is still not there yet. He ruined the book for me. If I had not already known the story I would have been totally disappointed. The books that were narrated by others are much better. I have continued to buy the books hoping they will get better. I have been so excited the Madaris series is on audible. I might try again, but at some point I will have to let it go. I can't continue to buy the series and dislike the narrator.
The story is fairly cute started out as a business venture and the two people ended up actually falling in love. The story is well develop and you do fall in love with the characters. This book has been around for a while but still a good one. Short and sweet.
This was an exciting series for me. I loved all the the stories some better than others. It was great to listen to Eric's full story and see what he is really made of. You got bits and pieces of Eric in all of the stories, but this one clearly shows who he is. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. Maybe I just didn't want it to end. It was clearly bitter sweet.
I am truly sorry this is the end of the Sinners tour. I am sad, I hope OC do more books that are just as good as this series. I can't remember ever being so pleased with an entire series where I was totally into the book and the lives of the characters so much in fact I had anxiety waiting for the next installment.
Eric's story should have been put out before Trey's story so I listen to them out of order. Nonetheless still sad it's a done deal.
Eric and Reb were perfect for each other and it was great to see Eric finally get his lady. It cost him some pain in the process. It was interesting to see how the story unfolded, with Reb's mother issues and of course her former boyfriend not being who she thought he was and the sneaky things he did and his secret. I don't want to give it away. I didn't see that coming. This story has all the stuff the rest had, love, sex and drama. You see a very vulnerable side of Eric.
Poor Rebecca thought she wanted Trey who she had been pinning for until she realized Eric was the real one for her. Trey noticed what her old boyfriend and family friend was about, and helped the situation along the way. Some of the others were briefly around but not enough for me.
You will not be disappointed.
I guess coming off the Sinners tour it is hard not to compare. Maybe the let down is that I was excited and couldn't wait for this to come out. I mean literally couldn't wait. It was okay, but I must admit I really expected more. I was a bit disappointed. Well, they warned us.
I must say Justine O did not disappoint she was right on. I still Like Olivia Cunning and now patiently waiting for Eric's story later this month. I agree with one of the other reviewer It would be nice if she tie this series up and give us more of their lives so we will know the entire scoop. It was just cut short and sort of left you hanging. I hate that- The sex was hot, but the story was lacking. Yes, I like it all tied up in a nice little bow.
The story continues from Mackenzie's Mountain. Joe is all grown up now and has graduated from the academy. You get a chance to see how he developed and get a glance at the rest of the Mackenzie clan. I enjoyed the story thought it was well written and engaging. This book gives us some missing information we didn't get in Mackenzie's Mountain such as, what happened to Joe while Wolf was in jail, and while Joe was in foster care. It shows how and why there was a deep bond between Joe and Wolf and gives an insight as to how Joe became so determined. This is a really good book we get to visit with Zane as well and find out the latest with him.
The best part of the book is the relationship between Joe and Carolyn, how they met and married.
You can tell this is one of Linda Howard earlier books but it is still a solid book and one of my favorites. This books holds up to any book she has written recently it shows passion and depth. You can't go wrong with a Linda Howard book It is totally worth a credit.
