"Interesting Book"
This book tackled bullying which has been a problem for many years. The author did a good job in making a decent story out of this age-old problem. She did a good job in showing how serious the problem can be and how it affects so many in it's trail. The story was believable and realistic in it's execution. The story also focused on a couple going through some marriage problems as well. This portion of the story was not as developed as it could have been, but it did not taken away from the story too much. It did not distract.
I was happy to see some of the regulars. Wish there was more of what was going on in their lives. This is a cute town and it proved how the magnolias went to work to put this issue to rest and do what magnolias do, support each other.
"Stunned"
After reading the reviews I was not sure I wanted to listen to this book. I took a chance. Normally, I do not favor any books when there is a menage de trios but, I was surprised it did not bother me as much as I thought. The story line was so well done, you sort of not notice the sexual content as much. And yes there was quite a bit of sexual content. This book is not for the faint at heart. I was thoroughly surprised at this book. So much in fact that I downloaded the next one. You really get involved with the characters and want to know what happened. I loved Brian and Myrna. Yes they are weird and not a typical couple, but you feel they really love each other. And let's face it it's a book. The narrator did a pretty good job. Better than most. It's a wild hot story that takes you for a ride, I guarantee you won't be bored.
"DISAPPOINTED"
This is a good book but the audio version is bordering on bad. It is so-so. What happened to Shari Peele, she did a great job on your audio books. This guy Pete is ruining your audio versions. He is getting better, but don't let him practice on your books. I am so excited you have done the Madaris family on audible, but he ruined the experience for me. He does some of the voices OK, but overall it is just not good.
The book is typical Brenda Jackson, which I enjoy most of her books. Dex finally learns the truth about his an ex-wife, well the wife he thought was his ex-wife: the divorce, and that he has a daughter. Dex had pretty much given up on love and marriage. The betrayal, he thought had turned him into another person. One that would not allow him to fall in love again. After the death of Caitlin's father and the truth is revealed, his love is restored, and he is once again able to be the man he was before. It's a good book to get you away for a few hours. It is not intense, just a calm book. I admit it I am easy to please if I can walk away with a smile. I don't read a straight up romance if I want suspense and a lot of drama. If you are looking for just a romance book then you should enjoy this one. It has some twist and turns and a hit of drama, BUT Pete is not high on the narrator scale. I truly hope he gets better I would hate to stop buying Ms. Jackson's book because of him.
"Decent"
I am new to books by Marie Force I got this one on a whim. The content was good, the narration was lacking. The voice of Ryan, in my opinion was terrible. He was a football celebrity, hunky, smart, and good looking a (jock), the voice made him sound like a jerk. His character was much more than what the narrator gave him. He did some of the other characters fairly well, that is what saved the book. Ryan was all wrong.
The story held its own, otherwise the narration would have been hard to deal with. The story made you want to know how it would end up therefore, you will get through the weird voice of Ryan. This was a nicely develop romance with a few twist and turns to make it interesting. It was a nice listen. Of course it was not a book that you simply could not figure it out, but it was a nice calm listen. A little sex, humor, and drama.
"Surprised"
I didn't know what to expect. I read other reviews and some people liked the book. Sometimes others like it, but you don't. This time it panned out. I enjoyed the book. Sort of predictable. The romance was a bit steamy, but it was a cute love story. Gabe was very likable -his love interest got on my nerves a little bit. All in all, this book kept my interest. I would try another book by this author.
"Enjoyed"
I am still not happy with Pete Ohms' narration of this book - he was better than the last one I listened to, Together Forever. I am sure the book version is much in better cases. The content was not the problem. This book was engaging and it kept my interest. If you didn't know who the author was you would know by the content, Brenda Jackson. I know some people don't like predictable stories but they don't bother me because I read to get away, and for pure enjoyment. This book did both.
This was a short book and it has me looking for more of Ms. Jackson's books of other families. This book is her usual formula with the two characters finding their way to each other, but she did it in an interesting way. It has sex, and drama woven together. Unbelievable in the real world, but this is fiction.
I had been waiting for Ms. Jackson to come out with more books on audible and she has and I am very happy. I hope she finds a better narrator and keep them coming.
"Not a Bad Story - Bad Narrator"
Pete Ohms was not bad, just not good. What happened to Shari Peele who has done a number of Ms. Jackson's books? Maybe Pete will get better he sounded creepy in some parts and it threw the story off for me.
I usually like Brenda Jackson books especially the Westmorelands. I got through the book, but it was not easy. The story was decent, but it was hard listening to this guy. I had already pre-ordered another book before I listened to this one. Not sure I want to listen to this guy again.
The book was okay, I enjoyed the development of the characters and how the story evolved when I ignored the narrator which was not an easy thing to do. This is a pretty typical Brenda Jackson book. Family, love story, professionals and same love story ending. I am truly happy Ms. Jackson is putting more of her books on audible.
I will listen to my new book and hope for the best. If you like Brenda Jackson's style you will probably like this book. Hopefully most of you won't find the narrator as bad I did.
"Enjoyed"
I was totally surprised by this book. I purchased it because it was on a special, boy was I surprised. I really didn't think I would like it, but I have already listened to it more then once.
The book starts off calm and sort of cute taking you by surprise with the drama and suspense that follows. It sort of ease you right into the drama. You think it's a soft story and then boom - the drama and suspense begins. It was about the list the ladies put together as to their version of a perfect man. This unfolds and the drama begins concerning this list but not in the way you may think until you get more into the story. It is an old book, but a good one.
I loved the relationship between Sam and Jane. The friendship between the 4 friends was written well. I didn't like what happened to them, but that was the essence of the book. The only negative thing I can say is I was not thrilled with the narrator. She was just okay.
The story was exciting, kept my attention the entire time. That is not an easy thing to do with me because I get bored fast. This one had it all for me. Drama, suspense, funny, and romance. Well, I guess it was a bit interesting how Sam and Jane fell in love in all of 3 weeks, but I've heard that in real-life so I guess it can happen.
"Okay"
This was a short book. Good thing. I did not feel the author developed the characters as well as she could have. I usually love anything about the Westmorelands but this one fell sort of flat. It was not a total bust. I enjoyed it some, but it was not the excitement I usually get with her books. It was predictable. I am okay with that- I realize it is a romance book. If I wanted suspense and lots of drama, I wouldn't read her books. It was not totally disappointing, but it did not hit the mark. I feel it would have been much better had she bridged the two sides of the Westmorelands and developed the main characters more. All in all, this will not keep me from continuing to buy and listen/read her books. I hope she keeps the saga of the Westmorelands alive.
"Not Bad"
It is not a bad story. It was short and quick. If you are looking for a quick story then this may be for you. I felt like it was a book for young adults or children. If you are a serious romance reader then this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a quick read then you may be okay to get this in and done. It is predictable, boy gets girl which is okay if the story is well developed.
The narrator is not the best, although I have certainly heard worse.
The story didn't have much substance. It's a short book. It was one of Nora's earlier works yet some of her earlier works are pretty good. Usually I am okay if I am entertained. This one entertained me a little. What saves this one to me is it was fairly cheap so I don't feel cheated. If I paid more than a few dollars and/or used a credit I would have been more disappointed.
