I really enjoy sagas and I would consider this story one. I liked getting to know all the different families and other characters. I didn't mind going from one family to another, it kept my attention by wanting to hear more about each family. I enjoyed this book enough to purchase the second in this trilogy and have already begun listening to the story of the next generation.
The narrator was pretty good. I wouldn't say he was great but good enough to not be a distraction to the story. I don't really care for his version of female voices, he sounds a bit like a drag quessn but story was interesting enough to get past that.

A different narrator.

The main character Honor Bright Haymaker was not as strong as some of her other female characters in her other books. Honor was just a bit too whiney for me to enjoy this book.

Nothing. Every sentence sounded like it ended in a question. Her accent for Honor was not consistent. I almost didn't finish the book because of her narration.

Yes, I enjoy listening to books while I drive, walk, crochet and work around the house. It is a great way to keep up with all the great books written.

Yes, it was a fun book with good narration. A definite listen if you have read or listened to the first two in the series.

I rarely have the opportunity to listen to a book in one sitting, especially one this long. But this book would hold my interest if I were listening to it on an extended car trip.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was my first book by author Ivan Doig. I read this book for my book club and didn't really know anything about the author or his work. I was pleasantly surprised by the story. I enjoyed getting to know the 3 Milliron boys and their classmates in the one room school house in rural Montana. The adults were also an interesting group that made this story fun and interesting to listen to. It is not a fast paced, action packed story but one of pleasant, humorous and honest events that made me curious to find out more about all.

I didn't really care for the narrator at first but the story was strong enough to overcome that negative. I'm not sure I would listen to another book read by Jonathan Hogan but I think his presentation fit this story.

Slightly above average as far as the story and performance.

I wish Follett had spent a little less time on the characters' sex lives. I'm not a prude but I got a bit tired of every sex act between characters described in detail. I would have rather he spent more of his writing energy on the historical aspects.

His narrations is good but I am not real fond of his female voices.

Again, the sex scenes were over done and actually became boring instead of scintillating.

Despite a my few negative comments I am looking forward to listening to the third book in the trilogy.

I wouldn't consider this one of the best books I have read but I did enjoy the story. The narrator did a nice job and his narration helped keep the story moving forward. I did like the ending, gave me something to think about & discuss with others who have read the book.

Despite a good delivery by both readers the story didn't quite make it for me. It was dragged on. When Vida Winter was telling the stories of the Charlie, Isabelle and the twins, it was fairly interesting. But Margaret was just too whiny for me. I got tired of her "poor me, my mother doesn't love me" & "I miss my twin I never knew". It got old and didn't arouse any sympathy from me. Also, the final tale of the twins & the "ghost" seemed a bit contrived.

Jeff Shaara is one of my favorite authors. His writing is always consistent, well researched with a great story from beginning to end. This book was entertaining as well as informative. I look forward to reading (listening) to the next one in the series. Paul Michael did a great job with the narration as well.

Jennifer Holm is an excellent author of childrens literature and the characters and story in this book are charming and believable. I enjoyed the story and the narrator and know my elementary students (and teachers) will enjoy this as well.

Fleck is a new breed of dog - a "Totteham Terrier". Well, not really but that is what Kaylie tells the owners of the rent a dog business where she works so that they will allow the little stray to stay. So when Hal comes with his dad, thinking he finally getting the dog he has always wanted,the dog and the boy find each other. It is love at first sight. This is a wonderful story of love (between human and animal)and adventure,including a circus,detectives,evil characters,orphans,monks with a truly happy ending for all.

The narrator did a great job, making this a great listen. I listened to it with my students in mind but I think even adults would enjoy this story. Ibbotson is one of my favorite authors.
