I think this series has wonderful plots, but the telling of the details too often repeats the SAME OLD THING! Way too much violet eyes, and grey eyes and heartbeats that count in increments of 10 get stale. Still, I do recommend it for passing the time. Not my favorite author by a long shot, but like I said the plots are just fun. So much potential to be exciting, but the repetitive phrases really bog down the forward motion of the story.
If there was a complaint about Mr. Correia's books, then it would be "why can't they be longer and release a bit faster...however, you can't ask for a more enjoyable "kickass" story (series) that just make the miles and time fly by. Keep 'em coming Larry! Can't wait to see what happens with Franks. And "Z" is just AWESOME!!!!
Enjoyed the conclusion to a great character...wish their could have been a Disney style ending. But this is Scott Card, and he can be as raw and moving in much more real ways...even in science fiction. Bean showed to be true to himself and those he loved, which moved me and kept the pace of the story moving along.
I was elated to find that Jim Dale had narrated another book. Loved him doing all the Harry Potter Series, as well as Arthur and the Minimoys. This book however was a major let down. It took me nearly 4 days to listen to because I became soooo disinterested, which is saying something coming from a career truck driver and avid audible listener. Jim Dale wasn't up to his best, and although the premiss was great, there was way to much bouncing around from two different points in the past, while treating it as if it was the present without moving the story in a linear cohesive way. Really, when I forced myself to finish, I wanted my credit and the time spent listening to this book back. Not sure what others heard when they listened to this, but this is only my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
