Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

Boy, what a long and tedious audio book. I listened to about 1/3 of the entire book and still wasn't "hooked" on it. At that point I decided this really wasn't worth the drudgery. The characters did not evoke much emotion, the medieval setting of the story did nothing for me as the author is poor at painting with words and the whole thing never seemed to really take off.

It is 40 hours of unabrdiged audio. But if you think you're getting a lot for your credit you'll be mistaken.

Jeff Hawkins, the man who created the PalmPilot, Treo smart phone, and other handheld devices, has reshaped our relationship to computers. Now he stands ready to revolutionize both neuroscience and computing in one stroke, with a new understanding of intelligence itself.

This is a fresh look at the field of machine learning and one that has the potential to revolutionize the somewhat stale research into Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
