Would you listen to The Ex-Debutante again? Why?

Yes. I needed something easy to listen to as I drove and this book fit the bill perfectly. I have several audio books I go to for long drives and will add this one to the list.

What other book might you compare The Ex-Debutante to and why?

The Devil in the Junior League. Written by the same author and with the same style.

What does Susan Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think the book is better as an audio book. Not sure I'd have liked it as well if I'd read it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed often. I really enjoyed the book.

  • Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs

In September 2007, Elissa Wall, the star witness against polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs, gave captivating testimony of how Jeffs forced her to marry her first cousin at age 14. This harrowing account proved to be the most compelling evidence against Jeffs, showing the harsh realities of this closed community and the lengths to which Jeffs went in order to control the sect's women. Now, in this courageous memoir, Wall tells the incredible story of how she emerged from the confines of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and helped bring one of America's most notorious criminals to justice.

Would you listen to Stolen Innocence again? Why?

Yes.. I thought it was a very fascinating story and would listen to it again. Kept me alert while driving and made a long drive pass by more quickly.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stolen Innocence?

Finding the strength to overcome her valid concerns about testifying against Warren Jeffs.

Have you listened to any of Renée Raudman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found it very interesting. While reading the reviews before purchasing the book I hesitated due to the poor reviews of the narrator. While it took some time to get used to the narrator using a little girl voice, I was able to focus on the story and forget the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

This book and the book "The Witness Wore Red" were written by sisters in the same family. Both stories gave different views inside the FLDS and I will listen to both books again.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very interesting book to listen to while driving - the miles passed quickly.

What other book might you compare The Witness Wore Red to and why?

Stolen Innocence was written by her sister, yet the points of view on different events give an interesting account of the lives they each led within the FLDS.

    Any additional comments?

Loved the fact that the author read the book herself. I know others don't always enjoy the book when it is read by the author, but in this case it was very well done.

"I'll never forget that night. It was like a romance novel, an old Broadway musical, and a John Wayne western rolled into one. Out for a quick drink with friends, I wasn't looking to meet anyone, let alone a tall, rugged cowboy who lived on a cattle ranch miles away from my cultured, corporate hometown. But before I knew it, I'd been struck with a lightning bolt... and I was completely powerless to stop it."

If you could sum up The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels - A Love Story in three words, what would they be?

    Enjoyed every minute.

What did you like best about this story?

Ree is very candid even when it doesn't show her in the best light. Very honest recount of the events that brought her to become a ranch wife and mother.

What does Ree Drummond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It is her story and she is an excellent narrator for this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

If you enjoy watching "The Pioneer Woman" on the Food Network, you will LOVE this book. If you've never heard of her, it is still an enjoyable listen.

Long before he starred on some of television’s most beloved and long-running series such as Taxi and Who’s the Boss? and went on to distinguish himself in a variety of film and stage roles, Tony Danza was a walking contradiction: an indifferent student who dreamed of being a teacher. Inspiring a classroom of students was an aspiration he put aside for decades until one day it seemed that the most meaningful thing he could do was give his dream a shot. What followed was a year spent teaching 10th-grade English at Northeast High - Philadelphia’s largest high school with 3,600 students....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mastering the Seven Decisions?

All of the moments were memorable.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The stories from historical battles from a different perspective. He brought them to life and I felt as though I was part of the action. You could see and feel the action. If I had been listening to one of those stories on my way to work, I would have sat in the car and finished listening before going in to work!

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

So many... but becoming a person of action is one I will take with me.

    Any additional comments?

Andy Andrews is the only person who could narrate this book. Excellent from first minute to last minute.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked the story line.

Would you be willing to try another one of Therese Plummer’s performances?

    Not sure at this point.

    Any additional comments?

The book moves excessively slow... painfully slow... 2 hours into the book and they are still in the first 24 hours of the story. Wished I had the technology available to speed up the narrator. She pauses constantly and just reads the book excessively slow in my opinion.
