    After reading the first 4 books, I accidently read this one next - oops. Each book will stand alone, but there is a flow in the series and you can learn about actions from prior stories not yet read.

    I found the change of voice and writing distracting. I had listened to a previous group work, but found this one more difficult to stay with.

    This was a too quick little story. I could follow the back ground only because I have listened to the whole Outlander series

    Probably not because it would be too short. If would be fine as a segment in another movie.

    I enjoyed this story, but it was too short. I am use to longer Diana books and less than 90 minutes barely got the kitchen cleaned.

    Davina Porter does an absolutily wonderful job of narrating all of the books in this series. I can hear the smails and all of the other wonderful emotions of all of the inhabitants. The accents almost have me starting to add a brogue to my speach patterns. Aye, so enjoyable.

    I read these books many years ago and am emjoying them again.

    What a wonderful listen. The richness of the southern accents and dialetes of Mississippi in the early 60s add a depth to this wonderfully engrossing and heartbreaking story. Junior League society and the Jim Crow laws in place at the time contrast with the human interraction between the college educated journalist 'Skeeter' and the 50 something hired help 'Abaline'. The inhumanity and mistreatment of little white girls and young black men all have a place in this book. Enjoy the journey and appreciate the progress along the road to equality.

    This book was spell binding. The insight into the lifestyle of the rich and the poor prior to WWI was so enlightening. The background of the actions that lead up to the war and the political actions involved were much more interesting than when I got the same (?) information in school. The subtexts of the class actions, suffragettes, coal mining, Russian revolution - what a lesson on the history of the times.
