Crude. Meaningless. I did not expect the bad language. I like Nevada Barr but not everything she write/reads has positive impact.
Sent me back to Audible to get more of her books. Great story, got an education and good charaters. Good reader too.
The story was too surface - no depth to the characters and the story was too grade school. Maybe that's what was intended - I don't know.
Had I read the book I would have kept my image of the charaters. I wish I would have. The reader was too old sounding, too tired. The story was okay - not as good as previous books in the series.
Thank you for another view of the conflict in Afganistan. It was riviting. I'll be looking for another to continue to expand my understanding of the conflict.
I can hardly wait until his next book. I learn so much about the personal conflict in a war zone and in particular about Afganistan and Muslins. And the author as the reader with the accenting of the read was great - it really put me in the moment.
The actual story is very good. I really like Nevada Barr novels. However, it was very irritating to have to listen to the reader swallow constantly - almost after each sentence. I could hardly finish the audio. Was she sick or had a dry throat?
