Well, it wasn't the WORST vampire novel I've ever read, but...

Think: Buffy the Vampire Slayer depth meets Anne Rice earnestness.
Unfortunately, it was not well written enough to pull off the drama, and not funny enough to excuse the shallow plot.

I definitely struggled with the very stereotypical self-loathing vampire and the "Oh! What am I doing, and why am I doing it?" heroine.

I also found it odd that not a single intimate encounter was in an appropriate location. I am all for adventure, but find some privacy or at least somewhere comfortable for goodness sakes!

The pace was ok and a few parts were entertaining. All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend it, but wouldn't quite call it a painful listen either.
