Somewhere, deep inside the United States government, is a deadly list. Members of Congress never get to see it and only the president has the final say over it. Once your name is on the list, it doesn't come off - until you're dead. Someone has just added counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath's name to the list. Somehow, Harvath must evade the teams dispatched to kill him long enough to untangle who has framed him and why they want him out of the way.

Would you try another book from Brad Thor and/or Armand Schultz?

Yes, I've been a Scott Harvath fan for a long time.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Predictable. No surprises.

What three words best describe Armand Schultz’s voice?

    Vanilla, mundane, average.

Could you see Black List being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Scott Harvath would make a great movie character, played by someone like Matt Damon. I'm not sure that "Black List" would make the best story.

    Any additional comments?

I've read all the previous Scott Harvath books, this is not Brad Thor's best effort.

Called “the best account of combat since Black Hawk Down” by Men’s Journal, Thunder Run is a no-holds-barred look at the sweep of Baghdad, Iraq in 2003 by U.S. armed forces. One of the boldest gambles in modern military history, the surprise attack on Baghdad by three battalions of tanks and APCs and less than 1,000 men total was the single stroke that is credited for ending the Iraqi war.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

Most books on Vietnam that I have read are pretty depressing and this is no exception. I stopped listening pretty early on, which is probably not fair to the author.

Once an Eagle is the story of one special man, a soldier named Sam Damon, and his adversary over a lifetime, fellow officer Courtney Massengale. Damon is a professional who puts duty, honor, and the men he commands above selfinterest. Massengale, however, brilliantly advances his career by making the right connections behind the lines and in Washington’s corridors of power.

I usually only listen to audiobooks while driving, but I found myself carrying a portable CD player around the house and patio so I could continue to listen to this story while doing projects around the house.

There was one factor that the terrorists didn’t take into account when they struck the Capitana oil platform off the coast of Colombia - slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform - and that was the Capitana crew chief, Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes a hard core action story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I listen to audio books while I drive, so I can't say it kept me on the edge of my seat, but I can say that I wasn't in a hurry to get to where I was going.

What about Peter Hermann’s performance did you like?

Peter Hermann has a voice that's easy to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

    Don't mess with Dewey Andreas.

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions.

What would have made American Sniper better?

Too much backslapping. Not much about sniping.

Has American Sniper turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

What didn’t you like about John Pruden’s performance?

    No complaints

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.

    Any additional comments?

I couldn't get through the whole book, stopped listening about half way.
