When I saw this book, I was expecting a 10 hour lecture on how humans have destroyed the planet and how we need to run out and hug a tree. This wasn't the case at all. The author presented Chernobyl and other locations as if they were attractions worthy of a tourism pamplet at a travel center. Each location was presented in a thought provoking, descriptive and very entertaining way. It wasn't the GREATEST book I have ever listened to, but it sure was worth the time and money.
I have read a few Christopher Bram novels and have enjoyed all of them immensely. Hold Tight was no exception. It is very well written, very suspenseful, with just enough eroticism thrown in to create a good balance. It is well preformed and a pleasure to listen to.
I have always liked this story. Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote a story that can be just as entertaining to a 4 year old as it is to a 40 year old. The performance left something to be desired, but it was still worth a listen.
The book was basically just a review of everything Bond. It was worth the listen, even with the overly critical viewpoint the author imparted to.... well, everything. It was also not updated for the new movies, as advertised.
Mr. Fleming once again delivers a great book, and Mr Vance once again delivers a great performance. It is really a great book, and a good listen, I just prefer the other Bond novels over this one. Everyone has to have a "least favorite." Still though, I would recommend it to any Bond fan.
Diamonds Are Forever ties with Dr. No for my favorite James Bond book. The movie based on this book is also very good, but the adaptation is poor in comparison to the book. The story is engaging and riveting, the characters are well developed and the performance by Simon Vance is flawless. A+ in my book.
I didn't know if I would enjoy this book, but I found it held my attention quite well. It was entertaining and informative without being overly technical. Definitely worth my time and money.
WOW! this book blew me away. I bought it because it was one of the daily bargains and was sort of non-committal about it. Once I started listening, I didn't want to stop. It is well written, full of twists and turns and very well preformed.
I am a big 007 fan. This is the first book in the series, so it is the first one I purchased. Since then i have listened to three others and this is probably my least favorite. A big part of that comes from the fact that in the book, Mr. Fleming describes casino games in detail which I have no knowledge of. Other than that, the story line is great! Like the rest of Fleming's considerable works, it is well thought out, well written, and Simon Vance gives a knock-out performance. If your a Bond fan, start here!
I have to start off by saying that I am not a big fan of Sci-Fi, but I did start this book with an open mind. I have to tell you, it totally blew me away. Not a single error in it. The writing was great, the story was interesting and engaging, the performance was flawless. This book has made me want to listen to more Isaac Asimov.
I have never read the original Hamlet, and I have been told that there are discrepancies between this version and the original as written by Shakespeare, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this great book! It is very well done and extremely well preformed. If you have never read any Shakespeare you will love it. If you are a Shakespeare fan, you will enjoy it. I can't wait to read the other novel these two authors did.
