The Summons: Once Judge Atlee was a powerful figure in Clanton, Mississippi. Now the judge is a sick, lonely old man who has withdrawn to his sprawling ancestral home. Knowing the end is near, Judge Atlee has issued a summons for his two sons to return to Clanton to discuss his estate. The Brethren: They call themselves the Brethren: three disgraced former judges doing time in a Florida federal prison. In prison these judges-turned-felons can reminisce about old court cases, dispense a little jailhouse justice, and contemplate where their lives went wrong. Or they can use their time in prison to get very rich, very fast.

I am a huge John Grisham fan and, like everything Grisham rights, these two books do not disappoint. Both books grab your attention from the beginning and don't let up. Just when you think you find a good stopping point, something happens or you find a crucial bit of information that makes you pull your hand away from the radio and listen just a little longer.

The fact that the two books deal with almost completely different subject matter makes this an even better deal! Definitely pick this one up!

A World War II sailor works in a New York City brothel - for his country. After being arrested in a gay brothel in New York during a raid, Seaman Second Class Hank Fayette doesn't understand why his homosexual activities are grounds for imprisonment. The brothel is rumored to be a hangout for Nazi spies and the Navy forces Hank to go undercover as a prostitute. They hope to use clandestine sexuality to retrieve clandestine intelligence. However, after Hank becomes friendly with a black teenager named Juke, nothing seems to go as planned.

I have read a few Christopher Bram novels and have enjoyed all of them immensely. Hold Tight was no exception. It is very well written, very suspenseful, with just enough eroticism thrown in to create a good balance. It is well preformed and a pleasure to listen to.

Young Cedric Errol lives in poverty in New York with his mother. When his father, who was disinherited for marrying an American, dies, Cedric is summoned to his grandfather's English estate. While the crotchety old Earl planned to transform the boy into a docile, traditional lording, it is Little Lord Fauntleroy who does the converting.

I have always liked this story. Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote a story that can be just as entertaining to a 4 year old as it is to a 40 year old. The performance left something to be desired, but it was still worth a listen.

Here is the new audio edition of the classic 007 reference book from the 1980s, complete with a new Foreword by the author. The James Bond Bedside Companion is an encyclopedic celebration of 007, who is still the world's most popular secret agent. The only book to cover all aspects of the James Bond phenomenon in a single volume, it includes: An intimate portrait of Ian Fleming as remembered by his friends and colleagues, a character study of James Bond, the by-products of Bondmania and the merchandising of 007, detailed analyses of every James Bond novel, and much more.

The book was basically just a review of everything Bond. It was worth the listen, even with the overly critical viewpoint the author imparted to.... well, everything. It was also not updated for the new movies, as advertised.

Every major foreign government organization has a file on British secret agent James Bond. Now, Russia's lethal SMERSH organization has targeted him for elimination. SMERSH is the Soviet organ of vengeance, interrogation, torture, and death. James Bond is dedicated to the destruction of its agents wherever he finds them.

Mr. Fleming once again delivers a great book, and Mr Vance once again delivers a great performance. It is really a great book, and a good listen, I just prefer the other Bond novels over this one. Everyone has to have a "least favorite." Still though, I would recommend it to any Bond fan.

African diamonds are being smuggled into the United States, and it's up to the British Secret Service to infiltrate the organized crime families in America and destroy the smugglers. James Bond is not afraid of gangsters, but then he hasn't really met any until now. With advice from his American friend, Felix Leiter, Bond tracks a diamond smuggling ring from Africa through London to the United States.

Diamonds Are Forever ties with Dr. No for my favorite James Bond book. The movie based on this book is also very good, but the adaptation is poor in comparison to the book. The story is engaging and riveting, the characters are well developed and the performance by Simon Vance is flawless. A+ in my book.

Niall Ferguson follows the money to tell the human story behind the evolution of finance, from its origins in ancient Mesopotamia to the latest upheavals on what he calls Planet Finance. Bread, cash, dosh, dough, loot, lucre, moolah, readies, the wherewithal: Call it what you like, it matters. To Christians, love of it is the root of all evil. To generals, it's the sinews of war. To revolutionaries, it's the chains of labor. Niall Ferguson shows that finance is in fact the foundation of human progress.

Wayward Pines, Idaho, is quintessential small-town America — or so it seems. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in search of two missing federal agents, yet soon is facing much more than he bargained for. After a violent accident lands him in the hospital, Ethan comes to with no ID and no cell phone. The medical staff seems friendly enough, but something feels…off. As the days pass, Ethan’s investigation into his colleagues’ disappearance turns up more questions than answers. Why can’t he make contact with his family in the outside world? Why doesn’t anyone believe he is who he says he is? And what’s the purpose of the electrified fences encircling the town? Are they keeping the residents in? Or something else out? Each step toward the truth takes Ethan further from the world he knows, until he must face the horrifying possibility that he may never leave Wayward Pines alive…

Introducing James Bond: charming, sophisticated, handsome, chillingly ruthless, and licensed to kill. This, the first of Ian Fleming's tales of secret agent 007, finds Bond on a mission to neutralize a lethal, high-rolling Russian operative called "Le Chiffre" by ruining him at the Baccarat table, forcing his Soviet spymasters to "retire" him. It seems that lady luck has sided with 007 when Le Chiffre hits a losing streak. But some people just refuse to play by the rules.

I am a big 007 fan. This is the first book in the series, so it is the first one I purchased. Since then i have listened to three others and this is probably my least favorite. A big part of that comes from the fact that in the book, Mr. Fleming describes casino games in detail which I have no knowledge of. Other than that, the story line is great! Like the rest of Fleming's considerable works, it is well thought out, well written, and Simon Vance gives a knock-out performance. If your a Bond fan, start here!

It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

I have never read the original Hamlet, and I have been told that there are discrepancies between this version and the original as written by Shakespeare, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this great book! It is very well done and extremely well preformed. If you have never read any Shakespeare you will love it. If you are a Shakespeare fan, you will enjoy it. I can't wait to read the other novel these two authors did.
