What a wealth of information! So amazing to think about the inevitabilities and chance occurrences that shaped our world. I wish I could recommend this book to all since it should be standard reading(listening). The down side is that its a bit of an endurance challenge to get through. There are a lot of numbers lists and .. vocally read charts. I doubt most could make it through this entire book. An abridged version might be more digestible.

Regardless, give it a try. You'll think about the world in a completely different way. But take your time, or else you'll burn out on this anvil of a book.

I spent an hour wondering what the point of this book was. It wasn't very funny (compared to the show); it just dragged on making cheap quips about topic after topic. Maybe it was supposed to be informative but the facts were at a 6th grade level while the jokes were too topical for any kid that age to get.

The performance was good though, seems like the cast tried to do the best with what were mostly mediocre jokes.

Overall wouldn't recommend, seems like they spent the all their effort on performance and not writing.

The performance(voice acting) was so good, I had to lower the ratings on previous reviews. I didn't know it could get this good. Jim Dale (the voice actor) is a truly talented storyteller.

The story itself was also quite good. You are pulled into the story, experiencing the night circus yourself while also traversing its history.

One of my new favorite books.

While the actual stories and analysis are quite interesting. The writing style makes it sound like the author wants to be seen as a hyper-intellectual. Almost embarrassingly riddled with $10 words and obscure references. I wanted to continue listening to hear the stories but couldn't bear the pedantic style of the author.
