Didn't read the print version. However, I get drawn into the story much more and it is more real to me when I listen rather than read (as long as the narrator is good). This narrator was very good, both male and female voices.
I love this series. I never thought I would enjoy the "ancient" setting but it really works and seems like Maya Banks has done her research.
Ms. Banks always seems to get the "facts" straight; she seems to do a lot of research about times, places, historical events, etc. and I admire her for that.
Nothing. I usually prefer good male narrators, however, Kirsten Potter does a good job.
Want more Maya Banks, having a hard time waiting for more books to come out. Please, Ms. Banks, continue to get excellent narrators; as you know a bad narrator can ruin a story.
Somewhat. Really did keep me interested enough to want to know what was going to happen next; however, way too many details/specifics/repetition which surely contributed to several hours of the length of the story. The length was a bit daunting.
Not sure. Most people I know wouldn't listen to a 25 hour book unless it was extremely astonishingly exceptional, which this was not.
ET did a pretty good job - Max's voice could have been better, but overall - a good job.
This book was definitely not erotica, maybe by a few years ago standards, but not today. It was not even a really good romance - hope KA's upcoming books are better and shorter.
I'm sorry to say that both Wanted and Heated did not live up to my expectations, especially after falling in love with Nikki Fairchild and Damien Stark. Don't get me wrong, I loved both Tyler and Evan's story and when all is said and done am looking forward to Cole's. I liked the steamy sex scenes and never before, I don't think, have I ever complained about there being too many. However, in this and Wanted there was a whole lot of sex and not enough storyline. I did like the character building of the men and in Wanted, Angelina's character, but Heated just didn't make the grade for me.
I also liked Saffron Martindale's narration in Wanted much better than Heather Smith (her male voice, at least that of Tyler was pretty good) but she spoke too slow and the "lilt" was off, in my opinion.
These two books seemed like they were rushed, something to get published and I so looked forward to them. I was disappointed. Although I also need to say that there have only been approximately 3 books that I have given 5's to, so 3's are not too, too awful.
Please use Saffron again or ask Heather to up her game in narration.
I really like LJ's books, this one, however, was not the best. I loved Indie and Colt and glad they finally got together but the storyline is really, really weak. Also, it ended so abruptly it almost startled me. The sex was hot, sorta, the arguments between the two tedious, and there could have been much more to the story.
I believe the best part, at least my favorite, was when Colt's dad found him at his fishing hole & talked to him and the brothers came to see him. This story did make me want to "hear" what happened with Cam, he's got to be next. Hope Audible sees fit to get the audio version.
I really like that each "alpha alien male" and each heroine have completely different personalities and characteristics.
I think Ms. Lopez has created an intriguing world with intriguing characters and hope she just keeps them coming and that Audible keeps providing them.
This series ranks pretty high up there with the books I've listened to. It has all the things that capture my attention and make me want to continue to listen; intrigue, suspense, drama, bad guys doing bad things and good, big, gorgeous alpha guys coming to the rescue, strong heroines, romance and hot steamy sex.
I like that the whole "alien" thing is different; that the world is imaginative/different and there are different spins put on good vs. evil.
Yep, but couldn't; had to sleep sometime.
I have now listened to all of the books offered. Hope Ms. Lopez keeps those big guys coming.
I thought the story was pretty good but very predictable so far.
Hurried, rushed, okay
I was hoping for a bit more from this book/author. The storyline was, thus far, very predictable. I am hoping that the final books are better and that if Em Eldridge narrates that she slows down a bit. The changes in voices for the varied characters were pretty good and she did the male voice better than most female narrators. That said, she sounded as if she was late for an appointment or afraid of loosing a bet for how quickly she could narrate this book. In the beginning her rushing/fast narrating made me anxious and I wanted to take a deep breath for her.
I hope the next books in this series are better, if Audible manages to offer them which is a 50/50 chance (Audible seems to neglect or ignore the fact that there are three books in a trilogy and several in a series) or just doesn't push the publishers to offer the last book in audio. I have become discouraged with Audible's lack of attention to this problem as there are several books that I have purchased that are part of a trilogy on the good faith that Audible will provide all of the books only to find that is not the case.
WOW ! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I rarely give 5 stars to anyone…well, intact, only one other author/story. This book did it all; it took me to places I only go in my dreams or imagination; the angst was perfect; the love, romance, sex was perfect, the turmoil, trauma, drama and suspense was perfect. All of these perfect feelings evoked from one so not perfect woman and one "crazy mother f***r" as John would say. That crazy man with all his flaws, secrets, dominance, unreasonableness, was so passionate about any and everything that meant anything to him and trampled my heart in an oh so good way. Then there is Ava, the woman who after all was said and done took Jesse and loved Jesse the way he is. She too was magnificent, tolerant and his angel/saving grace and while not always her Central Jesse Cloud 9, it did eventually always come back to that. The ending was beautiful. I'm so glad it ended the way that it did, it was perfect.
Please Ms. Malpas give us more. I can't imagine topping this one but your writing and creativity is amazing so I'm sure you will grace us with something at least as exhilarating.
YES. The book was good. Loved the characters, especially Natalie but the entire storyline really lacked drama.
Yes. I think she gets better with each book.
It took awhile to get used the voices, but she was pretty good. I always wish women did better male voices like only a few can and with JM it is no exception. At least I was able to listen to the narration whereas some potentially good books have been ruined by really bad, or even mediocre, narrators.
Listen to the next book.
KP is a good writer and seems as though her imagination may be fueled by her fantasies (or reality) because this book gets to the heart of things. You "go girl" keep up the good work.
YES, but would recommend the friend begin at the beginning with Book 1.
I think I had too high of expectations for Moon, especially as the other books were so very tremendous. This one lacked the drama, romance and sensuality that the other books were so full of… also, this was placed in the erotic section in Coming Soon browser. I think I missed it somewhere.
I think she gets better and better with each book and she has a real knack for keeping the voices consistent so that, for instance, Smiley's voices sounds the same throughout all of the books, as well as Tiger's, Moon's, etc. I always like hearing a good narrator rather than the one that talks in my head when I am reading. Good job VC.
Absolutely, albeit somewhat disappointing.
Hope we don't have to wait too long for Harley, Flame, etc. and I hope they're on the same caliber as the first 8 books. This one felt rushed even though it seemed like forever that we, New Species fans, had to wait to listen to it.
Absolutely. I'd have to wait awhile cuz' I don't particularly like to watch a movie or listen to a book a second time, but will if given enough time in between. This book felt so real. I could relate to Tyra's responses to Tact's MC club, secretiveness, even though he was trying to protect her, his heavy handedness; etc.
Tyra & Tact.
I thought she did an okay job after I got used to her. At first it was difficult and at times throughout the book there was too much "lilt" to her voice. She was not amazing but neither did I feel like she ruined the story and her male voices were really pretty good. There are narrators out there, especially females, who can literally demolish an otherwise good book.
Yes, I laughed out, got angry, felt anxious, cried, gave fist pumps especially to Tyra and experience ooh & aaaahhh moments.
My opinion is that this is the best of the Dream Man series and Kate Russell did a much better job with this one than the others she narrated,
