"How to Practice - Buddism, in Particular"
    Overall

I am a Christian who has studied and appreciated Buddist and Zen philosophies for their wisdom regarding living in the present and freedom from the tyranny of material desire. I found this work both light in such general wisdom and tiresome in its emphasis on Buddism-specific religious ideology, particularly reincarnation.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future.

    "Non-compelling and unnecessarily profane"
    Overall

Boring and too in love with the 'F' word. Most user-recommended audible books (e.g., Secret Life of Bees) edify my spirit - this one crackled against it.

Walter Wangerin, Jr. makes the Bible come alive in detail with The Book of God. Wangerin reveals the humanity and eternal messages behind the text. The Book of God is a sweeping history that covers thousands of years and hundreds of lives, in a myriad of foreign yet familiar cultures. The award-winning Wangerin has produced his magnum opus, a timeless masterpiece that rekindles the imagination and nurtures the spirit.

"The Bible in Living Color - Inspired"
    Overall

As a Christian for 20 years, I still find the Bible a daunting read. While I size up a front-to-back read of the real (Audible-version) thing, I have found this to be a superb primer. The book is true to the Word and full of 'living color portraits' of most of the essential characters. It inspired my faith, and it lifted my perception and appreciation of each person, from Abraham to David to Jesus, particularly Jesus. Anyone who is seeking the heart of Christianity will find it in this book. And when you're done, you have to read PAUL, Walter Wangerin Jr.'s other 5-star book. Both superb!

Master storyteller Walter Wangerin Jr. sweeps you into the life and times of the man who brought Christianity to the world. Here is Paul the person, viewed through the eyes of his contemporaries.

    Scott says: "Excellent book!"
"I fell in love with Paul"
    Overall

In this book the beautiful harmony of gifted author and equally gifted reader create a piece that made the New Testament come alive for me. The drama and the passion both inspired me and brought me to tears, as each character leaped from history into life and into my heart as the reader stepped into each one with such authenticity. Essential reading for those for whom the New Testament and this amazing apostle have for too long remained cool (or cold and dead) strangers. Not anymore!
