Shy South comes home to her farm to find a blackened shell; her brother and sister have been stolen and she's going to have to return to her bad old ways if she's ever going to see them again. She sets off in grim pursuit with only her cowardly old step-father Lamb for company. But it turns out he's hiding a bloody past of his own. None bloodier.

What did you like best about this story?

The depth of the characters, the continuation of stories and events from previous books so effortlessly combined with a new story of exploration.

What does Steven Pacey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A real tempo and sense of atmosphere

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A number from unexpected deaths to reunions and the obvious yet beautiful reveal.

    Any additional comments?

Joe continues to set a new level for fantasy writing, not needing the crutches of over-powered characters to create a vivid world that you want to return too.

    Story
What did you love best about Red Seas Under Red Skies?

The descriptions of the world. I actually bought this book before the first of the series by mistake, and while it referenced the events of the first book it is a great standalone on it's own.

Which character – as performed by Michael Page – was your favorite?

    Locke

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Besides its length this is a great listen and I've found many a time that I am still listening long after I expected to move onto other activities. There are logical dips in the action but the story moves along and the descriptions are rich and vibrant.
