"Not bad"
Good short stories and narrating is very good. I kind of liked that some of the stories are a little on the downer side - it sucks you into the characters. But it just wasn't too entertaining for me. I was a little bored. It was kind of like watching an old black and white movie. Its a classic, but still an old black and white. I'll take Matrix over Casa Blanca any day. If you prefer Casa Blanca you might like this.
"One very thought provoking book"
I loved this book. The narration is fantastic and done in a style where it sounds more like a person is sitting down and talking to you. The book takes a very linear approach to spell out in very basic logic how your beliefs and thoughts can really affect your experience on this planet. It was VERY thought provoking.
If you have some doubt about whether your thoughts and beliefs can have a real tangible affect on your life I would recommend this book. It lays out a very scientific and common sense explanation to a lot of it. I'll be listening to this one again.
"Pretty good - a little slow in middle"
I downloaded this because of all the hype around it. It was an interesting listen. It got a little slow in the middle for me but if you stick with it gets better in the fourth quarter. Not quite good enough for four stars though.
"I really enjoy these books"
These are great books to keep and listen to every so often to remind you. I think Jerry does a fantastic job as the narrator. I guess everyone has their own tastes but I think his speaking cadence really seems to fit with this material.
"Fantastic"
What a fantastic story. It brought me close to tears a few times. For a grown man to be brought to tears while driving his car has got to tell you how powerful this book is. Author does a great job of narrating.
Starts off a little slow and is hard to keep up with unusual character names but stick with it. Recommended.
"Wanted to like it but...."
I just could not get into this. The narration was very good and the characters interesting. But the story was either jumping around too quickly or dragging. There was no good medium. I ended up stopping it about 2/3 because it hit a slow part and lost me.
"Good review course"
I took spanish in high school so I knew some of the language going in. This was a great review course. The audio is well done and gives you opportunity to repeat sentences and then will sort of quiz you about previous words or verbs. There are hours of lessons. I think you really get your money's worth.
"Didn't care for it"
The audio is nice in that it puts phrases to the tempo of music and makes them easy to repeat. However, it doesn't cover how the sentences can be changed or discuss how the verbs are used. I preferred learning spanish like crazy as I seem to get more out of it. Just my 2 cents.
"Opened my eyes to ACIM"
I had tried to read A Course in Miracles years ago but simply could not understand the text and always put it down. This audio program helped open my eyes to what the book was trying to say and got me interested in reading it again.
The audio is well done, and while Gary doesn't have the professional public speaker type voice he does a good job of narrating.
If you were curious of a course in miracles or had tried to study the course and found it difficult to follow I recommend this audio as a good primer.
Thanks Gary, it got me started back on that path.
"What a great book"
I had never heard of this book but I'm so glad I found it. What a great book. I love the humor in it. Reminded me a little of hitchikers guide to galaxy.
I thought Ethan Hawke did an outstanding job of narrating. It's worth it just for that. Highly recommended.
"Poetic but dark"
The author writes with such a poetic style that this book is really interesting to listen to. The story is dark so it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
Narration was excellent.
