In Battle Station, Kyle Riggs faces new challenges, new alien fleets, and learns the secrets behind the war he has been fighting for years. In the fifth book of the Star Force Series, the Eden system is in humanity's grasp, but can they keep it? Star Force is weak after a long war, and many yearn to go home. Knowing the machines will return with a new armada eventually, Riggs seeks a more permanent solution. Along the way, worlds are won and lost, millions perish, and great truths are revealed.

    Story

While I do stand by my quite condemning review of book #4, this book #5 is MUCH better again.
Gone are (for the most part) the artificial story parts that only seem to be in book #4 to either make life easier for the author and/or to help bloating the content of the book.
While I skipped several scenes in the previous book due to inexpressibly artifcial and/or illogical situations this has not been the case even once with this book!
While I'm cannot say that it is perfect or that is is up to par with the first book in the series - I definitely CAN say that I did enjoy listening to it!

    Additional comments:
    (1) I'm going to buy book #6
    (2) The performance of the narrator is perfect - throughout all five books so far the reading of the books has been very high quality.
    (3) English is not my native language

Conquest is the next chapter in the great interstellar war between all living creatures and the machines. Star Force must stop the machine invaders once again - but how?

In the fourth book of the Star Force series, Kyle Riggs has freed Earth from the chains of the Macros - but at what cost? The Macros no longer trust him. He is a mad dog that must be put down - and all Star Force must be stamped out with him. The war expands in this story, and mankind is once again faced with annihilation.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

50:50 - while there are still some brilliant parts in book #4 there also more and more (compared to previous books) dull and/or artificial seeming and/or annoying parts.
While listing to this book I've turned down volume to zero for several minutes several times to skip annoying parts.

What could B. V. Larson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The author not artificially bloating the contents.
Too many parts of this book #4 either insult the intelligence of the protagonists and/or seem artificially constructed (to fit the authors current needs) and/or are just plain illogical compared to previous events in the previous books.
This tendency started with book #3, already - but I thought it just to be lapse - I enjoyed book #1 and #2 a lot - but since book #3 the quality of the story has been declining continuously...

    Which scene was your favorite?

About the last 15%-20% of the book are more creative and innovative again.
I will not mention specific scenes as this would be spoilers.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe - I'd definitely NOT go see it in the first few weeks. I'd wait for critics and opinions and then maybe go see it if overall comments were good.
There's some good material in there to make a movie - but only if the screenwriters and director know what they are doing.

    Any additional comments?

    (1) I'm unhappy that I also bought book #5 in advance with previously listening to part #4 - big mistake!
    (2) The performance of the narrator is perfect - throughout all four books so far the reading of the books has been very high quality.
    (3) English is not my native language
