Kick a...! The book is gritty, raw, but heartwarming. A tough a....love story and I loved it.
I don't know. I loved the entire book. Full of sarcasm and I mean I live for that sooo...
She is awesome! This is the first book I've heard her narrate but I would not hesitate to read her again. I don't know where people are getting bad info on her talents. She was great...and trust because I am super picky. I will totally discard a book for bad narrating so I mean...Renee is great. Yeah don't let those reviews deter you.
Ok so at first I was a little weirded out because it started real hard core. I had not been used to the whole tough as nails stories but boy am I glad that I was acquainted with it. I got the book on a sale and so glad I did. I actually began listening to this book, got weirded out by it after like 3 minutes. Then came back to it about a week later. Just imagine if I had missed out because I was uber critical in the beginning. However, after that, I tried to listen to it in one sitting but geesh my husband and kids just refuse to allow me to enjoy myself!!!
Its worth every penny or credit. Get it!
No, not with a good conscious.
It was pretty predictable.
She did great with the accents but she sounded awful in the male voices. Cameron sounded very, very strange.
No. I don't think it should be so I can't even think that far.
I have read books one and two and I am just not into this series. Guess I don't see what the hype is all about because this seems more geared towards teenagers.
Unfortunately I cannot. I just did not find this book as interesting as I thought it would be. I kept expecting to get drawn in but it just never happened.
I don't know. I think I needed more information about the characters. Maybe more drama. Maybe more flaws. I think it may have been a little unrealistic.
Well I think she did a good job. She was not bad at all, but I was thrown off in the sense that she sounded like a teenager. She sounded very young like her voice wasn't appropriate for the adult activities.
No. I can't say that I would.
This book has some good reviews but it doesn't click for me. I have heard many romances and this one just lacked that chemistry. I honestly would not recommend it.
This book was exciting, sweet, touching, steamy, and interesting. So yeah, I would definitely recommend it.
I like that the characters were flawed. Seriously no one was perfect and they all had some issues here or there that showed the fact that they were human. You know romance novels do not always show us the flaws.
I cannot recall ever listening to Susan Ericksen. Now I could be wrong, but if so it doesn't matter because she knocked this one out the park!
Probably when Sterling finally told Franny the truth. Or maybe when Franny told him the truth.
I was initially against this book because I did not like the title. Something about having that word in the title creeps me out. Yes, childish I know but hey we all need a shrink from time to time hahaha. Anyway I definitely recommend this book and I would recommend it even at regular price! So there you have it folks...it is a definite score!!!
So here's what matters. The narration was superb! I have just added Natalie Ross to my fav list. She is easily in my top 10. I think it had a good storyline (in general).
What I didn't like? Yes, as everyone else has said the incest was creepier than a haunted house. There are just some things that I am not used to (thank goodness), do not want to get used to, and don't even want to think about...and incest is right up on the top of that list. I mean creepy...
And not that I'm trying to continuously tell you how much I am frazzled by that (which is obvious), but whats up with the whole cousin thing? Um 2nd cousins are not distant cousins. Geesh 2nd cousins come over for dinner and not just on holidays. I mean who lives with cousins their whole lives... only to grow up and sleep with them? This could not be normal.
With that being said, I don't understand why the main character couldn't have been like a God-daughter who was adopted by the family and just grew up with the other kids. I mean did they really have to be cousins though? I mean in my eyes you are only distant cousins when you can't exactly pinpoint how you are related lol.
OK so back to the story. I really liked Webb. I thought he was interesting, firm but kind hearted, and masculine. I liked Roanna too but geesh she was a bit obsessed with Webb. I mean who harbors that type of obsession over a span of 20 years??
I think it had a good storyline (in general) and I really enjoyed this read. Shocking I know, but seriously if incest was taken out of the picture I would have rated this book a 5 and loved it. Even still I recommend it. And to top it off I did learn something from this book...I could never be a private investigator because not once could I correctly guess who the real killer was.
I took a chance with a new narrator and a new author...and what a mistake that was!!! It is hard for me to figure out if I like the story at all considering the narration is so ridiculous. I mean why does she talk like that?!?!? The awkward way she says the sentences and hangs on to some words....the way she reads like she is being chased by a wild pack of pit bulls....the way she does that awful southern drawl...the way she over acts.....the way she draws out every fifth to sixth word.
My little rant above is nothing but the truth so help me! I should have trusted those audible reviewers out there and I am now giving you all my apologies for doubting you. This was a tremendous waste of my time, energy, money, and even my sanity. I am literally shaking my head. And as one reviewer said this is not an attack against Charlotte Kane herself but the truth is the truth.
As for the book, I question whether the book would even be a decent read. It seemed a bit cheesy, sexually charged (for absolutely no reason), and a generic knock off of something that could have been good.
Needless to say, I do not recommend this book. Take my word and save your money and credit. Yeah don't even buy it if it is on sale. I'm just sayin.....
First things first...I have to say I am/was not a fan of the True Blood tv show. I attempted to watch one episode and found it pretty sleazy but that was before I read/listened to this book. So if you do not like the show, please do not count this book out.
With that being said, I have to say how amazing the narration was. I am a new fan of Johanna Parker! I found all of her voices phenomenal, she had a great accent, and she definitely showed emotion while reading. I mean Johanna is an actress!!!
I won't go into detail and give away spoilers but I will say if you like the paranormal world with a tinch of humor and romance, you just may love it.
Oh it is pretty far up there. I truly enjoyed this! I mean truly!
Ooh I don't know. Peeta I think. He is just soo sweet. Shoo...I think I love him!
No I have never listened to any of her performances. I really enjoyed her performance. I mean she distinguishes each character and not only that but she is really just an awesome actress.
And yes I will address the comments of her sounding too old for Katniss' role. Yes she does sound a bit more mature than I would have imagined Katniss but she is still awesome. I would rather listen to the awesomeness of Carolyn than listen to some young girl who narrates awful...so there you have it!
Absolutely! I was aggravated when people interrupted me whether at home or work lol.
I actually read the book after I saw the movie and I loved them both. Listening to this book just makes me want to watch the movie again. I have immediately downloaded book 2 and look forward to listening this evening....Needless to say, I highly recommend this read.
Ok so it really pains me to have to write my review this way since there were so many things I enjoyed about this book, but I have to give it the most solid 3 ever.
The Good: Narration is superb! The main character Maggie is hysterical, lovable, energetic, and pretty (well almost) normal. There were many touching, realistic scenes that could honestly happen to either one of us. The writing is phenomenal and funny as heck.
The Bad: Why the heck did the male interest not speak but like 4 times in the entire book? There was nothing to fall in love with and I mean even a grouch speaks to someone at least once a day.
I have to agree with another reviewer I read because while everything else lined up for a great novel, the actual supposed romance robbed the book from a 5 star rating. Dang they could have given more as far as a leading man was concerned.
I enjoyed listening to book mostly because the series has finally started to pick up and there is finally some important action. However, I do still find that the unnecessary arguments and drama take away from the actual storyline itself. I guess I'll have my fingers crossed that the next book in the series will be more normal. We shall see.
I found this book interesting because it shows us Nash's perspective of things. However, I felt this book was a little more unrealistic in the sense that Marissa changed into a different person overnight. Not saying a person can't change but this was the swiftest change ever. Also I felt like the story was missing more depth and true interaction between the two main characters.
Even still, this was a decent read. It is pretty inexpensive and is worth the money, especially if you have already read books 1 & 2. It is almost necessary to read this just to know wrap up the series.
