The only thing I can say is I didn't finish this. Maybe someday I will give it another shot. I try really hard not to write a reveiw that contains spoilers, but this just cant be helped. You have a woman from the first book who is strong and does things that are jaded on the surface to supposedly protect her heart, then of course ends up with the perfect guy in the end. Then in the second book here, she thinks "oh its ok to go off to private lunches with the guy everyone in town thought she was sleeping with , while her new husband is off on business, he wont mind. Come on.....REALLY!! Younger readers won't get this anology, but it made me feel like when I said I would never watch Dallas again if Sue Ellen went back to J.R. AGAIN!! By the way I never did watch it again LOL.
I was truely disappointed in this installment. I was expecting much more from both of these characters from previous appearences in the first two stories. Instead it was almost like the story was rushed, neither caracter was developed and they seemed very shallow. In the previous two stories Ms Youngs characters were deep, some what troubled, slightly flawed but had brains. Olivia and Nate could have and should have had more substance. I felt like it was " okay we will cram this story full of sex ( and no where near the passionate Bradon/Joss kind) and maybe no one will notice the plot is vapid and unfullfilling. That being said I didnt hate it but was very disalousioned after 2 really excellant books. The novellas are very good too, still better then this one. I still am looking forward to Hannahs story.
Even though this is a short story, if you have followed Samantha Young's series this is a MUST. You get a glimpse of the plot in a previous story but this gives you the inside scoop. With all the ups, downs and angst. Paula Costello is so perfect for Joss and Braden. She brought Joss to life no question.
Thea Harrison has a knack for this genre. I got hooked with Dragon Bound and never looked back, just waited for the next installment. I have to admit that even though I do love ALL the books and ALL characters, up to this point Dragon Bound and Oracle's Moon were my two favorites. Now this one has just become another, Can't wait for Grimm's story and Grayden to find his own "cupcake". Narration couldn't be better, Sophie you do an excellent job.
I first read this one on my kindle, but had to have it to listen to. So far I have not been disappointed in any of the stories about the Mackenzie family. This gave you a kind of update on the whole family and what was going on in each couples lives. I wish more authors would do that. This story puts Ian and Beth back in the forefront which delighted me. Ian and Beth awwwww what an exceptional couple they are.
I think when an author puts out a really, really great series, then goes on to other things, it is just hard not to compare. I love Robyn Carr and I do like this series. It has all the right stuff. Great characters, interesting plots even if slightly predictable. It just isn't virgin river. I know that is wrong of me but sorry I just can't help it.
I purchased this a very long time ago and I can't believe I failed to give a review. This is one of my all time favorite NR stories. NR hit the mark in every way with this one. Great story line, interesting and well formed characters, and the perfect narrator. I have listened to this book at least ten times.
I really have said it all when it comes to the In Death series in all of my previous reviews. So simply put great, love Eve and Roarke, can't wait for the next book.
This was a good first in the series. I did like the series, I feel NR has had better ones but this was in no way her worst work. I did like the characters and the story line was good, the narrator not so much. Had a little trouble with listening to her seemingly "struggle" through.
I have listened to the O'Malley stories numerous times and purchased the set of paperbacks for my mother. This is a great short story in the continuation of that series. Anyone who has read these books will know this story is a prequel to the series BUT I can't emphasize enough that Ms Henderson put it right where it belonged. It really NEEDS to be read after you read the series. I truly hope she comes out with a "ten years later" or something type story about this family, I would eagerly snap it up.
I really like this series and have read them all. I was glad to see them come out on audio. These books may never get critical acclaim, but Shelly Laurenston has taken a red hot genre, put her own spin on it and what makes this series work is her great sense of humor. She has developed crazy, interesting characters that you just have to love, laugh at and laugh with. Beast Behaving Badly is my ALL time favorite of all the stories. Once you have read this you will never look at wearing a watch in quite the same way. This narrator was well suited for the story. GREAT JOB Ms Laurenston.
