A good read for a child, but John Grisham has a lot more to offer to adults
how do people cope with poverty and violence? this book is a journey of intensity, each assassin's story gives the reader an understanding of how the politics of independence tore at the heart of the nation and traumatized it's people, and in spite of this each character finds his equilibrium and humanity. Funny and uplifting, I enjoyed this book for it's heart-warming ending!
written from Nancy's point of view as well as the biographer's, refreshing kind of biography, without guile. the post script is just as refreshing, as we are allowed a short glimpse of the descent, life after the mountain peak has been reached. WHAT A STORY!
Heart-warming, funny, insightfulful, a book that reminds me that there are wonders in this world. James Herriot is the sort of person that uplifts those around him effortlessly.
Racey and a very dangerous world, with Harry a survivor - just. I read the set right through, breathless in the end, love Harry Bosch, his ability to survive is comforting.
Just how difficult it is to stay ontop, we who are not so brilliantly successful can forget any envy - High flyers crash hard.
John le Carre always draws the reader into the story he is telling, I kept questioning my own perceptions of where the law should or shouldn't apply. Supply meeting demand, and the people who are willing to be facilitators, create the monster in our midst with our tacit tolerance. A powerful story!
contemporary politics dominate this narative, a glimpse of the real Pakistan from the inside, a good book for anyone wishing to travel there.
John le Carre tosses the reader back and forth between bitter enemies; Israel and Palestine. A captivating read.
always needed to know how the ancients moved and erected monumental structures and sculptures- simply and convincingly explained here. The history of the Easter Island people gave me a fresh view of our western history, harsh reality.
a book for any cook, and definitely for those who have ever eaten sushi. I appreciated the history and the careful descriptions about ingredients woven into an entertaining story about modern day american sushi making.
