Jack, a sometimes humorous, sometimes philosophical ex-special operations pilot and soldier is one of the few left to struggle through the desolation left in the aftermath; seeking to survive as a new ferocious species emerges from the rubble, hungry and unrelenting. Will his special-forces training be enough? Will he be able to keep his children safe and guide the few survivors through perils that now roam the world they once knew? Or will the hordes that now own the night prevail, forever removing the last of mankind from existence?

Would you consider the audio edition of A New World: Chaos (Book 1) to be better than the print version?

    Print version is much better.

What did you like best about this story?

    Balance between character and action.

How could the performance have been better?

It could hardly be worse. This narration kills the book; it's monotone, annoying and entirely out of character with the main character as I imagine him. The narrator sounds like a 60 year old marine grunt, with little interest or imagination.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It's simply a distraction, but not a bad read.

    Any additional comments?

I think the narration is so bad I wonder how this could be sold commercially. It makes me wonder about the entire audible catalog. I will certainly be more careful in the future, it's unlistenable.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

If you could sum up Sycamore Row in three words, what would they be?

    Great first half.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Grisham? Why or why not?

Sure. Perhaps he'll re-write the second half of this book and address all the plot lines he created then dodged.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Chuckle, perhaps.

    Any additional comments?

Two books; the first half is solid, the second half seems rushed and expedient. I think the author lost interest along the way.

What would have made Command Authority better?

Something to say. This book is a total waste of time.

What was most disappointing about Tom Clancy and Mark Greaney ’s story?

And endless collection of names, twists and boring factoids.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I think the narrator worked it pretty hard. I sort of feel sorry for him.

What character would you cut from Command Authority?

    70% of them.

    Any additional comments?

I can't imagine what a "Clancy Fan" finds satsifying in this book.

What would have made Steelheart better?

Gearing for an audience older than 12.

Would you ever listen to anything by Brandon Sanderson again?

    No.

What does Macleod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Commitment.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Steelheart?

If I had to edit this book I'd cut my throat.

    Any additional comments?

I feel like a dope for paying for this. Silly stuff.
