I think this book would be WONDERFUL for young girls. I thought it was a book that could also be enjoyed by adults, which I think it might be.
Really it was the reading for the dragons' voices that made me stop listening. I think reading the book with a younger person might be delightful.
I thought it was charming and delightful. I cared about the characters, and there was adventure to keep my interest.
So some of the plot was predictable- that didn't really keep me from guessing at the other parts and thoroughly enjoying the tale. I would listen to it again!
I wasn't expecting to love the book. I have read and enjoyed all the Mercy Thompson series so far, and for some reason thought that this was the older, and lesser series. Wrong.
To me, this book is so much richer than the MT series. I LOVED the heroine! She had depth, was relatable, and admirable. Each character was well developed and the story kept moving, all the while bringing me farther into the world of the werewolves and the pack.
I also expected the narrator to be a woman, and was surprised that I liked this man better than I would have a woman reading it. The narration skips between the characters, and he has a great voice, and reads well for all of them.
How have a missed this book before??? I can I not love a book about a sassy girl who cannot keep herself from getting into trouble/adventures? No one can help loving Jackie, despite or because of her most relatable flaws. This book is a perfect marriage of character development, charm, whit, a bit of romance, and adventure.
It is a book that I could read over and over again, because I feel that I am right there experiencing the adventure. I rarely give a 5, and it is without a doubt worth five stars.
The book not only is a story about a girl coming of age and battling pirates, it is bloody hilarious.
I LOVE the narrator, and I love the series. Tis true that landlocked Jackie is less stimulating than pirate fighting Jackie, but there still were great scenes that made me want to be a better person and left me laughing out loud and yelling at the characters. Not quite as good as the first, but really the series is so good, that any book in it is far superior to any other book I have read in the last year.
I did not care for the narrators, it sounded unprofessionally done. I of course liked the story, but it was just too short.
It is probably #3 of all the books I have read, only behind the Hunger Games. I loved the story, it was a wonderful life to share with the protagonist.
I loved the narrator. He made this book better than I ever would have imagined if reading it alone. He gave life
I loved Mistress Owens. She isn't spoken of much after the beginning, but she was such a strong character.
No, but I would like to.
It made me cry at the end....but I was still happy.
