"Doom and gloom"
I will not read another book from Danielle Steel. I read her in the past but her style became very repetitive and I have not read a book in at least five years, her style has grown even more stilted and without feeling. It reminded me of the writing my children did in High School. Definitely glad I listened to the book as I was multi tasking and didn't lose eight hours that I could never get back. The narrator was horrible and had no concept of voice variance. Much too monotone to be interesting.
It has turned me off completely to Danielle Steel.
Everything. Boring. Speech was much too chopped off. Did not know how to transition from male to female. Maybe it was the book that made him sound so bad. I will try him again.
No
The book had so many possibilities as to where it went but the author took a great idea and rammed it into a wall and the book was lost after the first chapter or so. I don't need sadness and anguish in my reading, there is too much in real life and I use my reading and listening for escape and imagination not gloom and doom.
"Enthralled from the start"
It was one of the best I have listened to thus far. Intriguing and suspenseful. The book started a reader at one point and carefully guided them through a maze to an ending that was far from the beginning point.
The intrigue was apparent from start to finish. I often use my listening time to walking my dogs and the dogs were walked a lot while I listened.
I loved the way a Mother's love was constantly displayed and showed to what lengths a

"Disappointment from the start"
After being completely enamored by The Magician I was looking forward to another great work but was instead totally disappointed from the start. I kept listening thinking the story line would improve, the thought process would start reaching out but it never happened. My time is too important to me to waste it on dribble such as this.
"Hope author stays true as she continues to write"
Listening to this, I felt that my own Mother had been plopped into the story and renamed. Ms Sullivan so pulled together several generations of women and respected each era they were from. I often try to do this also so I can understand younger people.
I read her first book and enjoyed it and was not disappointed with her second.
The narrator was not the best I have heard but the story line kept me reading any chance I could grab.
"Disappointment"
After giving her readers five fantastic epic books to ponder and enjoy, Jean Auel insulted them by believing she could merely rehash what was scribed in her past writings. I was sorely disappointed that the book did not deliver what had been given in the past. If there were a way to get a refund for my money on an audible book, I would ask for one.
