Overall a very good book, just as engaging as the first. The narration isn't that bad and you get used to it after a little while. The stories are varied, with several deep subplots. The conclusion seemed a little rushed (just like the first), you can certainly tell that he is just setting the story for the next book.
Before I bought this book the reviews had me scared that the narration would be unbearable. The truth is, it's not that bad. It takes some time to get used to, especially considering the fact that my last book was Wizard's First Rule (which had great narration!). But, after only a few minutes, an hour at most, I was acclimated to the style and enjoyed it very much. The book is a little more graphic than the first (hard to believe) and while good, was a bit long winded. Some of the subplots and characters were left unfinished/underdeveloped and the ending came quickly without much closure. However, being that there are several more books in the series it makes sense that alot is left open for the next installment. Overall, a nice easy listen that keeps you engaged throughout.
I just completed a cross-country trip from New Mexico to Georgia and i was honestly sad when it was over cause i had a couple hours left on this book. It kept me entertained the entire trip! Yes, it is a little violent at times, but nothing too bad compared to modern television and movies. The story was great and the subplots kept me interested and on my toes the whole time. Only complaint would be the ending which felt a little rushed, but i'm not going to spoil it, you'll have to listen yourself. If you're a fan of fantasy you will be a fan of this book. If you're a fan of the show, get ready cause this is a completely new story.
