George R. Noory is the host of America's top late-night talk show, Coast to Coast AM, broadcast to nearly 500 radio stations in the United States and Canada. Noory truly believes that there are forces, both good and evil, at work on Earth and beyond. Fueled by a transcending experience at a very young age, he's turned his life into an investigation of the possibilities and influences of such forces, and how we can use them to enhance our lives.

Very enjoyable. I especially like the fact that George Noory read it himself.

This book touches on how far reaching the power of the mind really is.

Miss Pettigrew is a down-on-her-luck, middle-aged governess sent by her employment agency to work for a nightclub singer rather than a household of unruly children. Over a period of 24 hours, as she becomes caught up in the life of Delysia LaFloss, her own life is changed - forever. This charming, funny, light-hearted 1938 novel was a bestseller on its first appearance. Read by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand, who stars in the 2008 film as Miss Pettigrew.

Minute by minute of Miss Pettigrew's day. I like how the chapters were broken up into minutes, like "11:41 AM to 12:15 PM". The story is carried mostly by dialog with minimal description, but it's there enough so the listener/reader can "see" the surroundings. I was enthralled. Frances McDormand does the different Voices very well. I totally enjoyed this book. Will probably listen to it again & definitely recommend it!

A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalvan never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home, however, the pressures of his physical wounds, traumatic brain injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. In constant physical pain, he soon found himself unable to climb a simple flight of stairs or face a bus ride to the VA hospital. He drank; he argued; he cut himself off from those he loved. Then Luis met Tuesday, a beautiful and sensitive golden retriever....

Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Would you listen to The Borrowers again? Why?

Probably. It was short, so good for listening to on a trip.

What other book might you compare The Borrowers to and why?

Watership Down. don't really know why, it just reminded me of it. Especially, when they had to move out to the field.

Which character – as performed by Rowena Cooper – was your favorite?

    the boy

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I got really upset when the mean old cook tore up the floor boards & destroyed their home. I was also really sad that the boy never knew that they made it OK.

    Any additional comments?

I'm finding all these copyrights for 2003 by Mary Norton, yet my 5th grade teacher read this story to us in 1965. Must be a re-up, huh?

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

she has a nice voice to listen to & she did all the different characters very well

The High Adventures of The Grim Reaper.

I liked the way it was written in the first-person, with lots of little rabbit-trail-side-thoughts

For generations, the dragonriders had dedicated their lives to fighting Thread, the dreaded spores that periodically rained from the sky to ravage the land. On the backs of their magnificent telepathic dragons they flew to flame the deadly stuff out of the air before it could reach the planet's surface. I'm always partial to Jaxom and Ruth.
I preferred Dick Hill's narration The White Dragon & The Skies of Pern more than Mel Foster's narration of All the Weyers of Pern. Dick has a better Character Voices & a better Character Voice Memory. But a good narration just the same.
