For a vampire killer like Jane, having Leo Pellisier as a boss took some getting used to. But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. After an attack that’s tantamount to a war declaration, Leo knows his rival is both powerful and vicious, but Leo’s not about to run scared. After all, he has Jane. But then, a plague strikes, one that takes down vampires and makes their masters easy prey.

Maureen says: "Best of the series by far!"

Would you consider the audio edition of Death's Rival to be better than the print version?

Yes, I love all the accents. They give so much personality to the characters.

What other book might you compare Death's Rival to and why?

    There is nothing to compare.

Which character – as performed by Khristine Hvam – was your favorite?

    Beast!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next Jane Yellowrock.

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace. Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy - one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

Where does Black Arts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I always love Jane Yellowrock and her supernatural world. I'm am so glad a bought her Skinwalker on one of Audible's $5 sales. I have Faith's books always loaded on my iphone so I can listen while driving, waiting in a Dr office, etc...

What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Arts?

I can't decide between several, the sparring was great, Ricky Bo was heartbreaking, Jane and Beast "understanding".

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

I love Khistine, I have bought books that I could not get into because the "voice" was not right, but Khristine is Jane Yellowrock. She does a great job at giving each character their own voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The Gathering and Ricky Bo, I cried. I listened to it a second time and almost skipped it because it upset me so much.

    Any additional comments?

Urban fantasy has become my favorite story types, I have read a LOT of romance, suspense, and humor, the Yellowrock series gives it all of those without going over the top with all the explicit sex. I can recommend them to my 13 year old niece and my 65 year old mother in law. Keep it coming Faith.

For the first time - in one Audible-exclusive collection - it's 13 stories of Jane Yellowrock, the shape-shifting skinwalker and vampire hunter for hire whose business card reads, "Have Stakes - Will Travel". Jane carries inside her the soul of her Beast, the mountain lion's soul which merged with hers when she accidently performed black magic as a child. Now, she and her Beast stalk the dark streets of New Orleans, bringing rogue vampires true death.

Would you listen to Cat o' Nine Tales again? Why?

Yes, just to relive the stories especially the new ones.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked getting to know all the characters a little better. I liked hearing in Rick and Bruisers voices.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

She is always great, when she does a male speaker you don't think " oh there's a female trying to sound male" you just hear the character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

With all the story stories it wouldn't make a good movie.

    Any additional comments?

    Can't wait for Black Arts.
