  • Broke: The Plan to Restore Our Trust, Truth and Treasure

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Glenn Beck, Kevin Balfe
    • Narrated By Glenn Beck, Brian Sack

In the words of Harvard economist Niall Ferguson, the United States is “an empire on the edge of chaos.” Why? Glenn Beck thinks the answer is pretty simple: Because we’ve turned our backs on the Constitution. Yes, our country is financially broke, but that’s just a side effect of our broken spirit, our broken faith in government, the broken promises by our leaders, and a broken political system that has centralized power at the expense of individual rights.

Antoine says: "First Beck Book Read"
"WOW unbelievable research and case study"

It was amazing to listen to the book and soak in the comparison of today vs yesterdays. My favorite was the comparison of the richest men in america, In 1916 the total wealth of John Rockefeller could have paid off the Nations Debt. Today the total wealth of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet would only pay the interest on the National debt for 3 months!!!!!! I would ask the glenn Beck Hatters to humor the book. You will be shocked to hear how Glenn truly feels about George Bush JR presidency. To Quote Glenn "Sorry but the Truth Hurts"

  • A Feast for Crows: A Song of Ice and Fire, Book IV

    • UNABRIDGED (31 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By John Lee

It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I forced my self to finish this book. I didn't want to waste my credits. The previous 3 were good, this one lacked action.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Feast for Crows?

    When it ended.

    Any additional comments?

A must listen if you plan on following the 5 book series. Just be ready for a lot of boring blaaaaaa..

When you are done with the book you will feel a part of the seven kingdoms. The characters come to life in your mind. The HBO series follows the book 90%. Cannot wait to start book 2!!

  • State of the Union Address (1/31/06)

    • ORIGINAL (52 mins)
    • By George W. Bush

This is the 217th State of the Union Address and President George W. Bush's second address since his re-election. Bush spoke about tyranny around the world and the American dependence on oil, among other topics.

Donn Edwards says: "America has lost the plot"
    "Will DIE for BUSH!!!"

He may be stupid, he may sound stupid, he may look stupid, but he is my leader and Commander and in my opinion he looks and acts like most of you whom will call him stupid. Blessed be the ones who walk thru the Vally of Death(IRAQ), let them fear no evil!

  • Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner
    • Narrated By Stephen J. Dubner

Which is more dangerous, a gun or a swimming pool? What do schoolteachers and sumo wrestlers have in common? Why do drug dealers still live with their moms? How much do parents really matter? What kind of impact did Roe v. Wade have on violent crime?

Timothy says: "Fascinating book, despite the title."
    "Abortion Lowerd The Crime Rate!!!"

I feel the jist of this book is---Abortion, moreover the elimination of the unwanted has led to a reduction in the national crime rate. Sadly I must agree with the author. I was pro-life before I read this book. Now I see myself wanting to take pro-choice side. It was mindnumbing to think in that way, but the author provides a strong argument.

Everything, well, almost everything, you know about American history is wrong because most textbooks and popular history books are written by left-wing academic historians who treat their biases as fact. But fear not; Professor Thomas Woods refutes the popular myths in The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History.

  • Cell: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 36 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Campbell Scott

The cause of the devastation is a phenomenon that will come to be known as The Pulse, and the delivery method is a cell phone. Everyone's cell phone. Clay and the few desperate survivors who join him suddenly find themselves in the pitch-black night of civilization's darkest age, surrounded by chaos, carnage, and a human horde that has been reduced to its basest nature...and then begins to evolve.

"Bad Voice Edits, Bad Ending, OK Read"

The narration edits in this book midsentence lasted up to 5 seconds. They were as annoying as the last 1/4 of the book. Half Way thru I was into this book heavily, but after that is lost me completly. I finished the book only because I was waiting to see if the Main Guy would wake up from a bad dream. Over all an OK book, but not award worthy....with some good tweaking thuough, this would make a good movie.
