Over all a light hearted book and it was enjoyable. While there is a lot of sex in this book, the story line was cute. The writer has some interesting people in this book that I would like to see more about. The narrator is very good and added much to the listening. If you are looking for a good enjoyable book with a lot of sex, then this is the book for you.
If you have followed this series, then you will love this one. The over all story continues in this book and we learn more of Seth's background. While this is mainly Lisette and Zach's story, all the main cast from the other books continue in this book. This is something other authors have trouble with. Ms. Duvall has not lost or changed anything about any of the main charactors as so offend happens with other series.
I have to admit, Zach is my favorite person in this book. As he explains part of his and Seth's history you have to wonder what are the secrets that he can not tell Lisette about the "Others."
I will not give the book away as so many reviews do, I'll just say if your new to this series, then you need to start with "Darkness Dawns" and listen to them in order. If you have been following this series, then you will love this one.
To Ms. Duvall I say, please keep them coming and please, please keep Kristen Potter as the narrator. As you write great books, Ms. Potter is a great narrator for them.
I got sidetracked by the novella's, so it took me a while to get back by this book. I must say Thea Harrison through me for a loop with this one! I always thought Aryal and Grim would be the match, but Aryal and Quentin I would never have believed. When Dragos sends Aryal and Quentin to Numenlaur on a two-fold mission, I didn't think both would return and they almost didn't. The first part of the mission was to settle their personal fight and the second part was to ensure no one was there that shouldn't be.
It was fun to watch how they both thought along the same lines so much of the time and to watch how they slowly began to work together. Then when they were captured by the Russian Witch and the shadow wolves, they really come together with one goal in mind, kill the witch. When Aryal is hurt so bad that she may never fly again and isn't sure she wants to live, it's Quentin who gives her back the strength to go on and encourages her to believe that she will fly again. I loved when Thea had them tease about being the parents to the 3 young elves that the witch had also captured and how they got them to safety.
I think one of the most touching parts is when Aryal tells Quentin of the promise she made a long time ago to her mate. Not knowing that he would use those same words when she is having surgery to repair her wings. Not even Dragos could hold her at one point during the surgery, but with those words Quentin did.
Thea Harrison wrote a great story around two very dominate personalities and gives us a look into Numenlaur that we had to this point not had much of. As for Sophie Eastlake's narration, what can I say but she has done another great job!! Together they make a great pair!
Everyone thinks of Oliver as the newest vampire, but what they all forgot is that he has been with Scanguards for more then 3 years now. When he disobeys an order from Zane, everyone is ready to chew him out royally. But as it turns out he was right and if he had not, it would have cost him his future mate and caused Scanguards a great many more problems.
The one thing I didn't like about this book is that they changed narrators and in my opinion, Eric Dove does not due as good a job. It's strange to hear Sampson sound more Romanian then he did not the first 6 books. Also most of the other main characters don't sound right now either.
Over all this was another good story in this series.
This was not quite what I was expecting. In the first 5 books everyone found their mate. In this one Quinn not only knew Rose, but he had married her when they were both human. But they only had 1 night together, now 200 years later Rose needs Quinn's help. All that time Quinn thought Rose was dead. Now he almost lets his pain and hurt keep them apart now other then the "Job." While their story is interesting, the most interesting part for me was when Thomas faces his Sire. I look forward to Thomas's story.
Yvette told Zane that she wished he would fall in love with his worst enemy!! Well he did, or at least his enemy's daughter. Every since Zane was introduced in this series I have wondered what his story was. What made him such a dark character?? Well this tells it all and I'm surprised that he isn't more dark then he is. But this book shows that he also has a "human" side that he keep buried deep. But love brings it out in him and it is the only thing that is going to save him. But he almost lets his hatred for his enemy destroy his chance for love.
A great addition to the series, but the narrator need to work on his female voices.
At first I was a little let down with this one. Yvette and Haven fight more then anything else in the beginning, but as the story develops, you can see things change between them. Haven is looking for his lost sister and killing vampires when he can. But he is also taking care of his brother. As you learn more of Haven's story and Yvette's along the way, you can see what they both really fear. This one starts out slow, but it builds to a great end and one I wasn't expecting at all.
With each passing book, I have to wander more and more what Zane, Thomas, and Oliver's stories are and how they will end.
Ms. Folsom continues to build on her characters and at the same time she tells Gabriel's story. I have to admit that Gabriel and Mia's story had a lot of twists and turns that I didn't expect. The "villain" in this one will surprise you! The one part of this book that I didn't like was when Carl gets killed. Even though he is only a minor character in these books, I really like him and was sad to see him get killed.
All through book 1, I wondered what Amaury's story was and now I know. This is going to be a series you will have to listen to in order or you will lose some of the reminders that are in this book. Ms. Folsom has continued to build on the characters that were in the first book and she keeps you wanting to see what happens next. Nina and Amaury chase one another for different reasons and the ending was such a surprise. I love the way Ms. Folsom keeps showing vampires as normal people too. You begin to look at these vampires as a family group in a way.
Finally some one who writes about vampires as people to with all the same problems as humans. Great storyline with very interesting characters and situations. Ms. Folsom develops great characters and sets everything in San Francisco. While love wins in the end, its the traveling there that makes this such a good book. There are a lot of twists and turns along the way and you are introduced to some interesting supporting characters. I can't wait to hear their stories as well.
A great follow up to book 1! The storyline is very well done and the plot has thickened. I haven't figured out who the bad guy is yet and that's not normal for me. Mia is getting a little smarter but she still has a ways to go. While we do learn some more about the Krinar there are still a lot of questions to be answered. I was also surprised by Mia's family, while Korum does win them over, it wasn't as hard as I thought it might be.
There are only 2 problems with this book, first I now have to wait for book 3 and Kitty Hendrix was not the right narrator for it. I hope they can get some one like Xe Sands or Sophie Eastlake for the next book. While Kitty does have a good voice, she does not make the switch back and forth between male and female voices. That is the only thing that is wrong with this book. I found I lost track sometimes of who was speaking because she uses the same voice for both parts.
But over all I am glad I spent the credit on it. If you liked book 1, you will like this one as well, if you over look the narrator.
