Hawthorne approached the Romantic notion of the ability of science to destroy art (or beauty) in the form of fictive "horror stories" of biological research out of control. This story is the best of that group. A devoted scientist marries a beautiful woman with a single physical flaw: a birthmark on her face. Aylmer becomes obsessed with the imperfection and his attempts to remove it via his scientific skills, thus rendering his bride perfect.

The language, the subject and the presentation all combined to create a flusher! none of the characters were the slight bit endearing or even entertaining.

On the first day of May, 100 teenage boys meet for a race known as The Long Walk. If you break the rules, you get three warnings. If you exceed your limit, what happens is absolutely terrifying.

It's not what I'd call a compelling work; I doubt that you'll want to listen again and when you're through you will understand futillity. I found myself wondering what type of society could create such entertainment and wonder if we are indeeed headed in that direction. This book will make you think and wonder.

In a pulls-no-punches essay intended to provoke rational discussion, Stephen King sets down his thoughts about gun violence in America. Anger and grief in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School are palpable in this urgent piece of writing, but no less remarkable are King's keen thoughtfulness and composure as he explores the contours of the gun-control issue and constructs his argument for what can and should be done.

Like most liberals; King believes the world will just naturally fall in line and be good little boys and girls and the rest of us should trust them and our Government with our lives. He dosen't believe the greatest danger is from our own Government. He believes we don't need and 30 round magazines to shoot deer or home invaders and he's right. deer rarely shoot back and criminals who invade our homes usually come and go rather quickly. The gentlemen who penned the second ammendment saw a real danger from the old addage
" Power corrupts" and the Obama administration is one of the best examples since Bill Clinton or Richard Nixon. The Government already has planes, tanks, ships and bombs. Don't take what little defense we have, Mr. King......

I didn't mind the flashbacks, but too much time and effort went into hashing over the same information; in short beating a dead horse. He dosen't mind mind killing folks off in wholesale lots, but with very little purpose. Much gore meant to shock. Not something I would recommend or wish for more of.

Lewis Black uses his natural talent for hiding subtle comedy inside explosive outbursts to full effect in this new one-hour stand-up event. Compelled by his passions and his discontentedness with the absurdities of the world, he erupts in hand-shaking, body-trembling motion as he spews his signature diatribe-laced dialectic comedy.

He has alot to rant about, from a country/western signer and wife, who are christans to getting old and very little of this was humorous. If you like listening to this guy cuss, without a point; this is your cup of tea.... I have enjoyed his performances in the past, but this one is a zero.
