After reading all the reviews touting how humorous this book was, I must admit, I'm quite disappointed. I didn't "laugh out loud" or even giggle. I equate this book to reading a human interest story in the newspaper; you read it, for a moment think,"hmm okay interesting" then you move on. The ending left me wondering "that's it?" Though the descriptions of the city area are quite good and whisked me away to NYC, they do not make up for the weak storyline. Perhaps this is a book you should read only when you are circling the West Side looking for a parking spot.
This was one of those books you were sorry had ended. Though a little hard to follow at times, the book takes something so fantastic and makes it completely believable. The character development was excellent and I was drawn into the characters by their descriptive emotions. I'm recommending this book to all my friends. LOVED IT!
An okay read, not an overall outstanding book, nothing I would gush to others about. Though it deals with a personal matter in the author's life I think the it was a poor choice to have her narrate the audio book. The author's voice is a little monotonous and after lengths of time, annoying. So much so that it overshadows the great storyline. Unless the audio book is released with a different narrator, my suggestion is this is a book to pick up at the bookstore and save your audible credit for something better, my suggestion being The Time Traveler's Wife.
