Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

What did you love best about The Racketeer?

The twists in the plot were interesting. While the story was mostly predictable, it allowed me to draw conclusions. Although my conclusions would sometimes be thrown right back at me with a great twist. Fun to listen to as I drive.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character seemed to be innocent and a forthright upstanding person. It was interesting to see the hardness of his resolve come to surface as his plan came to life. He was cold-blooded in a way. Something I could see myself becoming after being incarcerated for a crime I didn't commit.

Which character – as performed by J.D. Jackson – was your favorite?

All of them. He played them all very well and very believable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

Good book with very nice narration. Don't expect it to be more than a typical Grisham novel. But his typical novels are always worth the read.

In this, their first adventure, Chet and Bernie investigate the disappearance of Madison, a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped, but who has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters.

    Story
Would you listen to Dog on It again? Why?

I loved this book. The story as told through Chet's voice (Chet is the hero and a dog) was absolutely perfect. I am a dog lover and this made me smile, laugh out loud and cry all within a few minutes of listening to this wonderful book. If you have always wondered what goes on in a dogs mind. This might give you a clue.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dog on It?

The most memorable part of the story for me was when Chet was kidnapped (dognapped). He was tortured (made to go without water) until he submitted to a new trainer. Chet's pride and commitment to his friend and owner would not allow him to submit to the new trainer. He would have rather died. Memorable and thought provoking on so many levels. Chet survives and escapes and becomes a hero in the story... so don't worry our hero lives on.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Chet made friends with a biker gang. Funny and sad but my favorite because Chet had a great time. Also makes me think that you shouldn't judge people or animals based on your perception of who or what you think they are. They just might surprise you!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. So yes it made me laugh and cry. Sometimes in the same chapter.

    Any additional comments?

If you love dogs this book is great. A great story, but told through the voice of a dog makes it special. You will not be disappointed with this story.
