It was whispered all through London society that he was a murderer, that he'd spent his youth in an asylum and was not to be trusted - especially with a lady. Any woman caught in his presence was immediately ruined. Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord whose hint of a brogue wrapped around her like silk and whose touch could draw her into a world of ecstasy.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is a thrilling and engaging read.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the hero Ian was flawed, he has aspergers and has suffered through a terrible time at an Asylum. The heroine is a widow, who has recently inherited a fortune.

Did Angela Dawe do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She did a great job with all the male voices but the main character was off. I don't think she got the pronunciation of words correctly and I could tell she was American.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, cry and a little jealous of Beth.

If you could sum up Once Burned in three words, what would they be?

    Scalding Electric Comfortable

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vlad - he is so matter of fact, a man who does what he promises. Leila is an excellent Heroine she is very competent like Cat.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

Tavia Gilbert is an expert Narrator and she excels at male voices, she does Vlad very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I listened to this book in two days! It is very compelling

    Any additional comments?

My only 2 gripes are that this book is too short, and I wished Leila sounded different to Cat. Looking forward to the next one.

  • Deadlocked: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel, Book 12

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things that she knows about, she'd rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town.

What did you like best about Deadlocked? What did you like least?

I love this series and I have listened to every book, but this book was a huge disappointment. It was as bad as I woke up and it was all a dream. Eric played little or no role in this book. There were no steamy love scenes. 90% of the book is in Sookie's head and her perception of her miserable life. Everyone loves Sookie, and yet she still isn't happy. The Fairies are weird and out of place.

What was most disappointing about Charlaine Harris’s story?

The plot, Sookie has chopped and changed love interests too much. Sookie is preoccupied with money, and whinges about having to pay her electricity, there was too much mundane parts to the book. I kinda wanted Sookie to die.

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Johanna Parker is an outstanding narrator and has been very consistent with her characters.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    I watch True Blood.

The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think my friends would get a kick of this story as it is very fast paced and has loads of action in the bedroom and on the field ;).

What other book might you compare Glory in Death to and why?

This story kind of reminds me of the Red Dahlia by Lynda La Plante and the Prime Suspect series written by Lynda La Plante because Lieutenant Eve Dallas is so single minded and focused on solving the murder at hand.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to Naked in Death and I continue to believe that Susan is an excellent narrator. I was surprised by her ability to do male characters.
