History uncovered in a new way. I've learned a lot about how things came to be with the pilgrims in this book and enjoyed every bit of it.
No, I didn't enjoy it and wouldn't know that of my friends would
Not for me
A good book. A reminder of how hard running a business can be. An interesting footnote of history brought to light.
Foe someone interested in early aviation history, Ohioan history, or looking to fill out your understanding of various topics, this could be the read for you.
not well suited to the medium, I'd think.
The author maps how we got where we are today in the oil and natural gas fields. He does so without mentioning that the discovery of oil saved the whales or the difficulties of running pipelines in Alaska or the Chesapeake in an otherwise impartial pov.
Good book a little dated with the recent changes in energy.
Vonnegut writes like a plate of spaghetti. Try to follow a single line: you may get lost, But in the end it's all good.
A detailed plot that shows, from roots to flower, the working out of a communistic/socialistic system. Very timely today as our goverment seeks to increase hand-outs and in doiong so take from those who provide our futures.
I could have done w/o John Galt's speech (atheistic as it was - there are better ways to show the troubles of this world w/o blaming God...perhaps one could take a better look at the root difference between God and religion).
Barring that- the book is a good read and I would recomnet it to anyone.
This is a well written, colage of a man's life...last thoughts as it were. The author reads and in that way twells his own story and takes you one bit at a time through some very delightful and thought provoking territory.
A good reading style and you might just learn something about yourself and well as those areound you.
An easily read owners manual for yur brain. The writing keep you moving and the subject matter while deep in nature is so very inviting.
This book covers the history and "feel" of that time in our history wonderfully. The writing makes it a good read for not only the history buff but also those who just want a good story.
What a powerful book! I love history and if you do you'll love this one too. I do think that the author needs to be reminded that the Johns Hopkins University is a Quaker college. But other than his ranting against religion, he is quite good. What a time in HISTORY.
