I was astounded by the fairness and unique perspective of a minority whom does not have a political or social hidden "adjenda", actually feels about the current state of america this june 2005. This book is modern and maybe timeless regarding the post 9/11 era. I will now be more aware and proud of what it means to be an american and why our nation is so wonderful in every cherished freedom we have earned and fought with blood for. Highly recommended to liberals or those who question if we are helping others in the world who are much less fortunate and seemingly get hurt by our capitalism and strength of policy or sphere of influence. Conservatives will like it just as well and relate to minorities more easily when trying to explain why we are the greatest nation in the world, not superior but different to other cultures.
I was very letdown upon listening to this book. It provides alot of what I will call "ultra common sense" meaning that one should try to work it out with people that hurt you because they wont get any better. She basically says that you, the reader are the problem and we should just look at the one or two positive items, even for murderers and rapists and think that about that person. I think this is terrible advice, sometimes one needs to leave the enviornment to begin to heal and develop a new self worth, not compromise and say, "oh, i am only hurting myself by thinking this person is not the greatest thing on earth." This is so terrible and troubling to me. I dont believe its our problem as readers someone repeatedly hurts us because thats the best they can do. I say so what, and would recommend leaving the bad situation and beginning again with courage and self esteem. This book would reinforce the opposite in me and was really upsetting. Steer clear.
I feel like I wasted money on this book. Try getting to yes or any other one pretty much, this was a waste of time to me.
not sure if i agree with text at all
If you know alot about managing, you will learn at least one thing from this book. I would have preffered to learn more myself, decide if its worth at least one new tactic.
This is the latest and greatest from Ann. I love this book so much I think I am going to ask her out on a date! Ann puts it all out, honestly, and more importantly factually. As a former liberal, I learned(not from ann) to actually research the facts and that emotional thinking fueled by ignorance is the basic philosophy of liberalism. Today the party has become so corrupt that I was pushed hard to the right. Especially after the movie 911 by micheal moore where he betrayed families by exploiting thier sons and daughters death to make a political point(see Fareinhype 911). That was the last straw, get that real movie Farenhype 911, and see how almost every fact in moores movie actually was made to trick the audience to believe his points. How dare he take a guy who is missing his arms and USE him as an anti war pawn when the kid totally sacrificed basically the life he knew to help the people of Iraq and protect us. I believe liberals are the cause of most of america's problems due to the fact that they act emotionally without having all the information to make the best decision. As a recent graduate school gratuate, I was force fed all this liberal philosophy of how things cant be changed so we should "cope" rather than stand firm in our morals and do whats right for our fellow man. This book is blunt and calls liberals for what they are hence why I think that they are bashing this book while they probably didnt even read past the first half of it! There is the classic example (emotional thinking fueled by ignorance!) Anyways, try Sean Hannity's books too, they are alittle easier to read on the liberal because he puts together one big moral obligation to help fellow man arguement rather than expose the liberal lies, deciet and greed.
Not too much I didnt know.
