One of the greatest mystery thrillers ever written, Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White was a phenomenal best seller in the 1860s, achieving even greater success than works by Charles Dickens. Full of surprise, intrigue, and suspense, this vastly entertaining novel continues to enthrall audiences today.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No. It isn't my place to change someone's elses writing.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Gone With the Wind

Would you be willing to try another one of Josephine Bailey and Simon Prebble ’s performances?

    Yes.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Absolutely not.

    Any additional comments?

This book was very long and very hard to listen to. The story was embellished with many many superfluous words, but I guess it was a style of writing in which I am not familiar. The monotone of the readers is hard to listen to because they let my mind wander, so I missed some parts completely. It was really really long.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Valerie Wyatt is the queen of gracious living and the arbiter of taste with a successful TV show. Since her long-ago divorce, she’s worked hard to reach the pinnacle of her profession and to create a camera-ready life in her Fifth Avenue penthouse. So why is she so depressed? All the hours with her personal trainer, the careful work of New York’s best hairdressers, cosmetic surgeons, and her own God-given bone structure and great looks can’t fudge the truth or her lies about it: Valerie is turning sixty.

    Story
If you could sum up Happy Birthday in three words, what would they be?

    Good, predictable, trite.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    I liked the older lady.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    When the baby was born.

Who was the most memorable character of Happy Birthday and why?

The mother of April. She was a conceited lady, but she was normal.

    Any additional comments?

I love Danielle Steel's books. They are sometimes predictable, but they are well written, usually have a good story, and are enjoyable to read and/or listen to. An escape from reality of life. This story was more trite than usual. Nothing seemed to phase those characters, everyone acted abnormally happy, and everything worked out for all of them. There was less angst than in some of her books.

One of the best-known stories in American culture, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has stirred the imagination of young and old alike for over 100 years. Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Alice In Wonderland), fresh from filming one of this year’s most anticipated films, The Dark Knight Rises, lends her voice to this uniquely American fairy tale.

Adam Shields says: "The movie was definitely an adaptation"

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. I have always loved the movie, but had never read the original book. It was very interesting.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Why would one change the story? It is the author's work. It should not be changed.

What about Anne Hathaway’s performance did you like?

I love most of Anne Hathaway's performances. She is a fabulous actress. I like the different voices she had for all of the characters. It made for a very interesting listen.

Did The Wonderful Wizard of Oz inspire you to do anything?

Perhaps to read the other books by L. Frank Baum.

    Any additional comments?

I am still in awe that the movie was made from this book. So many things were different. It will make the movie more fun to watch.

Would you try another book from Beth Wiseman and/or Renee Ertl?

    Yes.

What did you like best about this story?

I like learning about different cultures than the one I am living.

How could the performance have been better?

Yes. Definitely. The reader used the wrong emphasis on many of the words in the sentences. There was a difficulty in following what she was saying sometimes.

Was Plain Perfect worth the listening time?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

The reader could have used a lesson in reading with feeling and emphasis on the correct words in the sentence. The reader was easy to understand, but her voice inflections were not good, and she used practically the same monotone of voice throughout the book. It was kind of distracting sometimes.
