The latest victim in a series of apparently motiveless murders is found near Inez Ferry's antique shop in Marylebone. Someone saw a shadowy figure running away, but the only other clues are that the murderer usually strangles his victim and removes something personal, like a cigarette lighter or a necklace.... The activities of the sinister 'Rottweiler' will exert a profound influence on the lives of a small group of people, especially when the suspicion emerges that one of them may be a homicidal maniac.

Sparkly says: "Lots of atmosphere, and a Freudian mystery."
    "Hugely entertaining"

What did you love best about The Rottweiler?

The characters were comic/tragic with a twist of pure malice. I took an interest in the fiture of all of them.

All children mythologize their birth... So begins the prologue of reclusive author Vida Winter's beloved collection of stories, long famous for the mystery of the missing thirteenth tale. The enigmatic Winter has always kept her violent and tragic past a secret. Now old and ailing, she summons a biographer to tell the truth about her extraordinary life: Margaret Lea, a young woman for whom the secret of her own birth remains an ever-present pain.

Cathleen says: "Once you finish it, you'll listen again!"
"You can NOT put this down"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The performaces of the narrators is perfectly balanced to create a rich reading experience. This book was devised like an onion: layer upon layer of truths and fabrications that all come back to the center core.. which is not a core at all, but a compressed version of all the layers above and around it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vida Winter was my favourite character due to the rich depth of her history as told to a biographer who knows nothing of her life's truths.

Which character – as performed by Bianca Amato and Jill Tanner – was your favorite?

    Vida, of course.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You are never alone, in life or death, if you are a twin.

Never have I enjoyed an audiobook more! Mr. Jarvis' character voices and reading skill, rendered with gusto and great depth, turn what could have been a mere auditory experience into a rich encounter with high drama, humour, pathos and pure fun. In short - BRAVO!
