"Hugely entertaining"
The characters were comic/tragic with a twist of pure malice. I took an interest in the fiture of all of them.
"One thing wrong, it was too short!"
Excellent narration by Sean Barrett. This story is fascinating with deep historical points of interest. Very enjoyable.
"You can NOT put this down"
The performaces of the narrators is perfectly balanced to create a rich reading experience. This book was devised like an onion: layer upon layer of truths and fabrications that all come back to the center core.. which is not a core at all, but a compressed version of all the layers above and around it.
Vida Winter was my favourite character due to the rich depth of her history as told to a biographer who knows nothing of her life's truths.
Vida, of course.
You are never alone, in life or death, if you are a twin.
"formidable reading of a memorable book"
The best! If you have or have not read the print version of A Prayer for Owen Meany by all means get this. This reader, Joe Barrett, gives believable life to the characters. ESPECIALLY OWEN'S. This is a bucket list read.
"This reading by Mr. Martin Jarvis is astounding!"
Never have I enjoyed an audiobook more! Mr. Jarvis' character voices and reading skill, rendered with gusto and great depth, turn what could have been a mere auditory experience into a rich encounter with high drama, humour, pathos and pure fun. In short - BRAVO!
