"Finally more Repairman Jack on audible"
I searched for more Repairman Jack, but there were only a few recorded. I even broke down and read the 1st book of the series. I see finally there are more audiobooks with a different narrator( I hope they keep the same narrator for the rest of the series). This 1st book explains the beginning of how young Jack became "Repairman Jack". Jack who lives off the grid and lives by his wits to become the man who repairs problems only he can fix using questionable and sometimes violent methods. I am looking foreward to the rest of the series.
"Old series new voice"
I listened to some of this series years ago when it was read by the author. The new narrator is much better. I rated this book 4 stars because it was very good , but not great.
"Return to Moonlight Bay without Christopher Snow"
This was one of the better Odd Thomas books, but this story could have been the 3rd book of the Moonlight Bay series. The plot is centered around Fort Wyvern, one of Christopher Snow's old stomping grounds. This is not one of the typical Odd Thomas books where he is influenced by the dead. The relationship with Annamaria from the previous book "Odd Apocalypse" is also revealed. If you are a fan of the Odd Thomas or the Moonlight Bay series you will love this book.
"Phil Gigante pulls it off"
Yes, but not written like a tag team where the authors write where one left off. Phil Gigante somehow makes up for the storyline with a great performance.
No
Yes. He does agreat job making a bad story sound good, but with a good story he makes it great.
No, never.
The authors made a game out of putting the next writer into a stupid storyline.
"Now after listening to the rest of the book"
I formerly gave this book a 1 star for the free 1st chapter. I hate that James Marsters is not the narrator, but John Glover is a great narrator (he is not Dresden to me). I just finished listening to the whole book and loved it. I am now anxiously waiting for the next book in the series. If James Marsters records Ghost Story I will buy it and listen to it again. When Frank Muller was hurt in a motorcycle accident and could't finished recording Stephen King's Dark Tower series I understood. I see no reason not to have James Marsters come back.
"You did what ! ! !"
The narrator can make or break an audio book. This is one of the things I like about audible.com, you can listen before you buy. I love John Glover, but he is not Dresden. John Masters portrays Dresden with this kind of cocky attitude, using just his voice. I have come to know and associate Dresden with the voice of John Masters. I am disappointed, but I will still buy this audio book as soon as it comes out. I will also buy it again if John Masters records it. I have to give this a 1 rating because of the change of narrators. The narrator is at least as important as the story.
"Not what I expected"
The best part of this audio book is the reader; she did a great job. I was hoping this would have been more like the "Twilight" series, but with mermaids instead of vampires. This book is well written with undertones of violence toward girls. This is the first book of the series and is not a stand alone book. If you like the drama of teenage girls interacting with each other as mermaids, than you will like this book. I can not give this book a bad review, because I picked the wrong book for myself. I am an old guy and this book would be more appreciated by a teenage girl.
