At first I thought that a 26 hour book might be too long but I was completely wrong, I enjoyed it so so much that I wanted it to go on for ever. At no stage was I bored. It is funny, quirky, stimulating and enchanting from the very first minute.
I can't recommend it enough. I have been listening to audiobooks for many years and this is the best one by a long shot.
The title of this book is what made me choose it. It was not a simple listen. The science was often involved and took a bit of concentration to absorb and understand. The author was also very detailed in how he came to the conclusions he came to. Yet it was all worth it. I understood his conclusions, I absorbed the information and then I began to impliment it into my own life. I am feeling great!! I am energised, my moods are even, I am not hungry and I am dropping weight at a rate that I find surprising. Be warned though - this is not really a diet book. It just explains the science behind why we are getting fatter as a society, you need to then go and use the information in a way that suits you.
I had heard of Bobby Fischer but didn't realise how little I knew about him. He is indeed an interesting person but even more interesting is the world of chess. There is a thriving community out there full of real characters, politics and gamesmanship. Who knew?
I loved being transported into this world full of intellects so superior to mine yet so able to be related to.
I just wish the story told more - I was left with the feeling that so much more could have been said about Bobby, yet I still really enjoyed the book and it did make me get out the chess board again.
I am nearly 50 and this is not my usual genre but I felt like something light and I tried it. You should too. It was fun, interesting, enlightening and endearing. I was so disapointed when it was finished.
I really wanted to like this book as I loved the 5 love languages and the 5 love languages for children but allthe will in the world couldn't make this interesting. I did not get through the whole reading so maybe it got better but I never found out.
This is really simple basic stuff but it is presented in a very easy to listen way and it is immediately applicable to most peoples lives. I usually am weary of this type of thing but not only was it fun to listen to ( and thankfully not too long ) but I got a lot out of it. Actually I believe it is one audio that I will listen to again.
