I read Over Easy: A Nusery Crime and couldn't get enough. This is the funniest book I've read in a while and NEED to read more. Super sharp wit. I would recommend this and any Jasper Fforde story that comes along. Simon Vance gives excellent voice.
This story was very long and drawn out and really needed someone to condense it. Not really sure why so many good reviews for this book because it took too long to get anywhere and by the time it got there I wasn't interested anymore. Only really why it's getting two stars is because she finally wrapped it up and it wasn't that horrible. Still not sure why we needed to know everything she through in there and the lead wasn't sympathetic and did things you didnt' understand until we got the explaination AT THE END. Don't waste your time.
Apparently I am a prude I didn’t' think so but I guess I am. I guess I didn't like the fact that she was still married during this. Also some of the conversations between the men didn’t seem like verbiage they would use in real life. I do want to finish the Coltons of Eden Falls story line, I’m also not any worse off from having read this but I wish I knew these characters better. Perhaps that will come with the other books?
It was a good quick listen, didn't have to think much. I also don't think the characters made silly decisions which can be the case in so many of the romances. Wasn't completely blown away but I recommend to a friend.
This was horrible and I feel sad for everyone who thought this was good. Letters to Penthouse have more depth to them than this. It was horribly written, same words (gaze, murmur, mutter) used over and over. When she actually did discover a thesaurus she used the word Ad nauseam. The only people who should read/listen to this are aspiring writers as a "What Not To Do" guide. Really sad I wasted my time on this.
This was my first Whispersync novel and let me tell you I loved that feature. Now I only want books that do that. Only problem is I hated how this book was narrated. If I only listened to the book I don't think I would have been able to get through it. Didn't like the voices she used and thought the accents were bad. But I liked the book was tense when I needed to be and teared up at the sappy part
It was OK. Interesting towards the climax but I wasn’t a big fan of the ending. Plus I couldn’t get into the narrator. All the voices sounded like old men even when it was supposed to be a young woman. I didn’t like the “voice” sounded pompous. I wouldn’t listen to it again.
My 5 year old son listens to this book almost every day and can all but recite it. It helps that he can now view the pictures from the book on my iPhone. He has enjoyed this book day after day and loves looking at the pictures.
I had actually meant to down load a different book from my wish list but I'm glad I got this one. It was a nice history lesson, good back story with a good cast of characters.
Derek Jacobi did a wonderful job with the narration on this. His voices were clear and different for all characters and the male and female characters had a distinct voice, not like a man trying to sound like a woman and not a woman trying to sound like a man. The story was good as well, although either I'm getting smarter or they dumbed this one down for me.
If you are looking for something you don't have to put too much thought into you can pick up this book to help you pass the time. Also I get the author is trying to make it suspensful so they don't blab out the entire story in one swoop but still.
