When his sister tricks him into taking her guru on a trip to their childhood home, Otto Ringling, a confirmed skeptic, is not amused. Six days on the road with an enigmatic holy man who answers every question with a riddle is not what he'd planned. But in an effort to westernize his passenger---and amuse himself---he decides to show the monk some "American fun" along the way.

Would you listen to Breakfast with Buddha again? Why?

I would listen again because there are many great lessons and it can't hurt to have them reinforced.

Which character – as performed by Sean Runnette – was your favorite?

    Rinpoche

    Any additional comments?

The story is a little too contrived and some may find it preachy, but I liked it.

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Would you try another book from Brené Brown and/or Karen White?

I will never buy another book narrated by Karen White. Awful.

What didn’t you like about Karen White’s performance?

Sometimes wondered if it was a mechanical voice. It was also condescending and her cadence and emphasis on words was completely inappropriate. It was strange. It was as if she was not comprehending what she was reading, as she read.

In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the The Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love.

If you could sum up The Four Agreements in three words, what would they be?

    Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom

What does Peter Coyote bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A voice you want to listen to all day long.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

There are so many, but probably the most effective one for me is—Don't take anything personally. Nothing anyone does or says to you is personal towards you. It's always about them.
