I liked that there was more than one event that the main character was investigating, just making things more interesting, in general
Jim Knighthorse, of course.
Not sure but don't think so.
It was a very entertaining, yet short and concise audiobook, which was good for commuting. This book could stand alone, even though this is # 2 in a series, but it still left you wondering what would happen next. Guess I'll have to buy the next one, too.
Purchased the e-book and the Whispersync audio version, which I listened to while commuting to work. Thoroughly enjoyable, fast paced action with some science fiction mixed in. Enjoyed this very much and found the concept intriguing, especially since I live in Florida and have grown up hearing of many incidents involving the Bermuda Triangle. I have enjoyed Bob Mayer’s other military book offerings and thought this might be interesting and it was. The gates and potential for serial stories made me think of Star Gate, both the movie and the TV series, but on another level.
This is one of those books that you can stop and start and not feel like you have missed a beat but still interesting enough that you will pick it up and continue to find out the rest of the story. It is part 1 in a series, so there are additional characters to be developed and stories yet to be explored, with a bit of a cliff hanger at the end, but the initial story at least seemed resolved.
A good story about Daniel Byrne's journey as he has to test all of his prior beliefs about his religion, his uncle, and his past. I would like to see a sequel to this.
This was an enjoyable audiobook read for the commuter. Nothing so earth shattering that you would not be safe driving, but interesting enough that you wanted to stay tuned for the next episode.
Eyes of the Hammer was read out of order, or actually it was read to me via the Whispersync application with my Kindle Keyboard. I do enjoy the Audible offerings, listening when in the car, and reading when in private, but this one was enjoyed totally in audiobook format. I have been obtaining these books out of sequence, but each stands alone, and when I read one that should have been read before, it still makes sense and enhances my understanding of those read previously. The author has created strong story lines that are believable, strong character development, and lots of action with some mysteries thrown in. What more can one ask for?
Have come to appreciate Mr. Mayer's stories, but this one struck a cord, as it is intriguing enough and one can't help but wonder, as scientists work more with DNA and genetic engineering, if something like this could not be happening somewhere. Therefore, the premise might be plausible. Personally, I was glad that Holly was the ultimate hero.
This starts out a little slow, in keeping with the genre as there are multiple story lines to set up for this rather intriguing story. It has a lot of depth and detail, and some twists and turns. I kept returning to it and as time went on, did not want it to end. This is one to take the time to enjoy. Perhaps there will be a sequel, as there could be a few directions in which this could story line could be developed. I sure hope so.
It was meant to be a teaser, and it does that well. Yes, I will consider reading and/or listening to the first in the series by this author. I do like sci fi, and this premiss would certainly allow the story line to develop in many different directions.
I enjoy most of his books but had reservations about another vampire book. This one is different, that's for sure. Not what you would expect, but an entertaining who done it, in keeping with his investigation background. I found it enjoyable reading and I like being able to go between book and audiobook with Whispersync, listing to the audiobook when commuting in the car. I am going to download a few more of this series and enjoy them now!
Remembering thinking it was interesting that a man wrote a book with the primary character being female, and did a fairly good job of it. A nice twist with some refreshing take on fairies and the like.
